Expanded Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle Now Open

Expanded Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle Now Open

21

Amex is known for its popular Centurion Lounges, which feature nice decor, and a solid selection of food and drinks. We’ve known for quite some time that Amex plans on expanding its Centurion Lounge in the Pacific Northwest, and that lounge is finally open as of today.

Basics of the Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle

As of February 15, 2023, the new 14,000 square foot Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle has opened its doors. This new lounge is more than triple the size of Amex’s previous lounge at the airport, as the old Amex Centurion Lounge was 4,500 square feet.

The new Centurion Lounge is open daily from 5AM until 10PM, and it’s located on the mezzanine level of the Central Terminal, above the central food court area. The lounge has seating for roughly 400 guests, and features views of the airfield and Olympic mountains.

The Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle menu has been curated by Chef Kristi Brown, James Beard Award semifinalist and owner and chef of Seattle-based Communion Restaurant and Bar.

As it’s described, her cuisine uses fresh local ingredients honoring traditional soul food and flavors from communities represented in the Pacific Northwest, including Southeast Asia and East and West Africa. The menu at the Centurion Lounge features dishes like Trinidadian spiced pork belly, blackened chicken cobb salad, and “peach cobbla” french toast.

The lounge also features a one-of-a-kind 40 square foot mural of the Seattle skyline, made from coffee beans by artist Harold Caudio.

The lounge has barista-coffee and a wellness cafe!

Amex Centurion Lounges are generally consistent to a fault in terms of the types of food and drinks available. So I’m quite happy to hear that a really cool new feature is coming to this lounge.

The Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle features the network’s first full-service coffee bar, named “Blue Roast by American Express.” At this counter, baristas will serve espresso-based drinks, cold brews, and rotating seasonal specialty coffees from local Seattle roaster Caffè Umbria.

There’s also a wellness-themed cafe menu, with healthy bites, made-to-order fruit smoothies, and kombucha on tap.

I’m thrilled to hear about this development, as those are some great additions. I of course love the idea of proper coffee (and Seattle is a fitting place for Amex to launch this initiative), and I also like the concept of a wellness cafe.

Bottom line

The newly expanded 14,000 square foot Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle has just opened. Not only is this lounge more than triple the size of the old lounge, but it also features some awesome new amenities, like barista coffee and smoothies. This is an Amex Centurion Lounge that I can’t wait to check out!

What do you make of the new Amex Centurion Lounge Seattle?

Not well-trained, lack of knowledge staff about entry requirements at this centurion lounge in Seattle where staff are outright arrogant and unapologetic of their incompetence. They scanned our QR codes twice on our AMEX apps, along checking our boarding passes and id, still demanding us to pay $50. Not worth using the AMEX PLAT card. Other major competitors are much more better in providing lounge benefits.

The 5am opening time is the single biggest improvement, 95% of the time I fly from SEA it's a 7am flight, rendering the previous Centurion lounge worthless.

Only available for guests with outbound flights. Was stopping by and wanted to grab a quick bite. But was informed they changed their policy for that location about 3 years ago.

    1. Mark P Gold

This is the policy at every location.

Hate to say this but you can’t trust whatever Amex advertises as its opening menu. They’ll be serving chicken thighs in no time.

Let's see how much of this becomes reality. Let's see how long how much of this lasts. I have to say that as the lounge gets crowded I assume many of the services to be cut. The other lounges are very similar to ordinary airline lounges with a bar, buffet, and a self drink service station. A lot of what they are promoting is nothing more than what they are doing now in other lounges....

Bar tenders making the coffees, etc. It's just that they are showcasing it separately for some promotion.

What!? No chicken thighs? Are you sure this is an Amex lounge?

  7. Nevsky Guest

The Peach Cobbler French Toast is excellent. Great staff, as usual.

  8. Steve Diamond

Can anyone report a noticeable difference on crowding now with the removal of guests?

Presidents Week, with travel starting Friday night/Saturday, will be an interesting test.

That's the first time since Feb 1 that families with school aged kids will be traveling en masse.

Around 330pm on Thursday last week, the LAX lounge was at about 80 percent of capacity. I have to say that I'm not contributing to Amex lounge over-crowding (and I have guest privileges). I'm fortunate enough to have lounge access with a range of airlines. I'll take proprietary airline lounges over Amex lounges every single time.

    3. Kaleb_With_A_K Gold

Glad to hear that because that means one less guest in the CL.

Thank you for your service Lee!

You were in the lounge. How were you not contributing to the crowd in the lounge? Are you a ghost?

I was the 2nd person in this lounge ever today. Only continental breakfast until 730. Smoothies are not available until 11am. Lots of nice space but sadly pretty underwhelming spread for early morning flightd

    1. Mark P Gold

Is that the long term plan or is it just because of it being the 1st day? Old Amex lounge had pretty good breakfast options.

    2. Spencer Guest

They told me that is the long term plan. Solidified by the fact that the times are on signs mounted to the walls (not temporary standup etc”

    3. Mark P Gold

Damn, that's a shame. What kind of items did they have out for a continental breakfast? Was hoping to hit this lounge up next week before a 7 am flight.

    4. Nevsky Guest

Actually full breakfast was out by a little after 6 today.

  10. Nick Guest

    made to order smoothies!

This is a very welcome upgrade at SeaTac. Also not to lost is the expanded hours of operations. The old lounge was open 7am-7pm & cardmembers we're sol when flying any non DL airline early or late

    1. EthaninSF Gold

Yes! As SEA has a large bank of flights departing after 7PM. I recall entering the lounge one time in the early evening - and being warned that lounge closes early, so eat quickly!
