See If You’re Eligible For Starwood’s New Member Exclusive Promotion

Every so often Starwood offers “Select Member Exclusives,” where members are targeted for different offers. Typically members will be emailed when they’re targeted for a promotion, though you can also log in with your SPG number on this page to see if you’re eligible. I’ve certainly been targeted for offers in the past without receiving an email about it.

Well, it looks like Starwood has just come out with some new Select Member Exclusives, where some members have been targeted for offers. Again, keep in mind this is targeted, so some members will have offers, while others won’t.

You’ll want to log-in and see if you’re targeted. Unfortunately in this case I don’t seem to be eligible, though I know plenty of others are. It seems like some people are getting a double elite qualifying nights offer, while others are getting a tiered points bonus based on how many stays they complete.

I guess it’s only fair I wasn’t targeted this time around, given that last year I had ridiculously good luck with these promotions.

For example, last April I wrote about how Starwood targeted me for double elite qualifying nights, valid for stays through June 30, 2016. I was a bit surprised when in June my double elite qualifying nights promotion had been extended through July 31, 2016. Then in August my double elite qualifying nights promotion has been extended yet again.

These promotions are stackable with whatever other promotions Starwood is offering, so they can be combined with Starwood’s current global promotion, where you can earn double Starpoints for your first three stays through April 15, 2017.

Bottom line

While I was extremely lucky with Starwood’s Member Exclusive promotions last year, I’m not having the same luck so far this year (though it’s still early in the year). However, hopefully some of you are having better luck than I am, and are in fact targeted for one of these offers.

If you want to see if you’re eligible for a Member Exclusive promotion, see this link. Like I said, Starwood seems to add promotions periodically, so you’ll want to check back with some frequency.

Were you targeted for a promotion, and if so, what’s your offer?

Comments

  1. I am eligible for this offer. Basically 4,000 bonus points per 4 stays, up to 12,000 points.

DP: While I qualified for SPG Plat in 2015, I only had 12 stays in 2016. I have been doing most of my stays with Marriott instead.

  2. START EARNING ON YOUR SECOND STAY.

You’re all set to earn up to 6,000 bonus Starpoints® on eligible stays between February 15 and May 15, 2017.

    SECOND STAY EARNS 2,000 STARPOINTS

+ FOURTH STAY EARNS 2,000 STARPOINTS

+ SIXTH STAY EARNS 2,000 STARPOINTS

    = MAXIMUM BONUS 6,000 STARPOINTS

  3. I got 1,500 bonus points on my first stay and 2,500 on my third. Underwhelming, but better than nothing I guess.

  4. 2,500 points on my first stay and 5,000 points on my second as a ‘new member’ (have stayed with SPG before but not this year yet). Seems fairly generous, but I already have one quite expensive Luxury Collection stay booked and this will probably tip me into directing a second one from Hilton to Starwood, so the promo has done its job, I suppose!

  5. I’m an SPG Plat 50 and got 3K points on the third, sixth and ninth stays, for a total of 9K points, also February 15 to May 15.

  6. Also got 3k each for third/sixth/ninth stays from 2/15-5/15. Too bad this only counts on paid stays, not points or C&P.

  7. Good to go

  8. SPG has consistently spurned me (Plat 75) on these targeted promotions and it’s had a real impact on my loyalty to them. I have roughly 200 nights annually and based on their weak promotions, will have only 12 nights with them during Q1, with 30 going elsewhere.

IMO, they really need to make sure that their plat’s have some sort of offer…

  9. I’m Plat75, and got 5,000 bonus points for 5th, 10th and 15th stay. Already have one this weekend planned, and with trips, should hit the 10 stays easy by mid April.

  10. @ Sean
Write to SPG to complain; you will get a reply saying how valued you are as a PLT but that the promotions are determined by an external marketing team and the rationale for inclusion is secret and only known to them. Yeah, right.
It seems likely that SPG has decided ,courtesy of the razor-sharp minds in this external team, that some members will continue to stay regardless of their exclusion from these promotions and further , that it is fine to encourage those with fewer stays by including them ( agreed) while excluding some ( but not all) with many stays (crazy).
It’s possible for someone included in this to stay 25 nights on double credit and achieve PLT 50…while at the same time a current PLT 50 excluded from the promotion stays 49 nights and fails to requalify.
    It’s weird, at best.

  11. Rock. Just switched upcoming stays to Hyatt / Honors. When targeted marketing caused strategic disloyalty….. When will they learn ? FU SPG.

  12. OK . . . so, I am SPG Gold —> “Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this specific promotion.”

My wife, on the other hand, is an SPG member with zero stays and zero points¹ —> “Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this specific promotion.”

    Grrrrrrrrr . . . .

¹ Rooms are always booked under my name.

  13. I was offered the 3000 points deal every 3 stay up to 9000 points, as an ambassador level customer with 120 nights last year and 41 nights already this year I do expect to receive the top level of promotion so have written an angry email to the spg group, hinting that if i don’t receive the highest level of promotion i.e. 5000 points every 5 stays I will change to hilton or shangri-la. I will let you know how I go.
