Today Only: Earn 15 United Miles Per Dollar Spent At Select Retailers

Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. Just for following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn anyway for credit card spend.

Sometimes it gets even better than that, as shopping portals have promotions with even better bonuses than usual. Well, there’s one such promotion now. On Friday we saw an offer for 15 bonus Alaska miles per dollar spent at select retailers, while today we’re seeing an offer for 15 bonus United miles per dollar spent at select retailers.

Through 11:59PM ET today, Sunday, January 22, 2017, you can earn 15 bonus United miles per dollar spent at select retailers.

I value United miles at ~1.4 cents each, so to me the 15 miles per dollar are the equivalent of a ~21% return on your spend, not including any points earned with a credit card.

Eligible retailers for this promotion include the following:

  • Banana Republic
  • Coach
  • eBags
  • Groupon
  • Lord & Taylor
  • Neiman Marcus
  • Old Navy
  • Nike
  • Rosetta Stone
  • Saks Off 5th
  • Shoebuy
  • Under Armour

For Neiman Marcus, it’s worth pointing out that many people have an Amex Offer at the moment, offering $50 off a $200 purchase. You can stack that with this promotion, to get a great deal on a Neiman Marcus purchase.

If you’ve been considering making a purchase with one of the above retailers, I’d certainly consider doing so today. Taking advantage of this offer is the same as a 21% return, as far as I’m concerned. When you click through to the retailer you’ll just want to read over the terms to be sure your purchase is eligible. For example, with most retailers, the purchase of gift cards doesn’t qualify for the bonus.

Personally I think the Alaska offer the other day was a bit more valuable since I value Alaska miles more than United miles, but there are also some retailers on the list this time around that weren’t on the list last time.

Anyone plan on taking advantage of the excellent 15 mile per dollar bonus through United’s shopping portal today?

  1. Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered a set of Samsonite luggage since the handle on my only current bag broke on my last trip.

  2. @unnonymous

He said gift cards don’t usually count. The T&C will almost always say not valid for gift cards but sometimes it will still work.

  3. One thing I noticed with Neiman Marcus. They are having a sale where you can get a gift card for reaching certain spending levels. So if I spend $500 on my spouse’s Valentine’s Day gift there (I was planning on doing that anyway), I’ll get a $100 Neiman Marcus gift card plus $50 back on my AMEX Platinum. Given that I happened to be planning to buy the same thing regardless – paying a net $350 for something that would cost $500 and getting 7,500 miles (not to mention MR points!) feels like a success.

  4. Could someone answer the simple question for me: Can I take American Airlines points that I presently have in a personal account and transfer them to my Starwood American Express account so I can use them for hotel stays? Thanks for a reply.

  5. If I bought groupons on groupon’s website rather than on United’s website, can I still get 15 miles/$ rather which I have already received. I did this on January 22 using the UAL credit card
