LifeMiles Offering Special Promotion For OMAAT Readers!

As I wrote about a couple of weeks ago, LifeMiles is offering a bonus on purchased miles through December 20, 2016. Through this promotion you can purchase miles with up to a 125% bonus, which can in many cases represent a great deal.

LifeMiles is one of my favorite programs for buying miles, given how useful their miles are for premium cabin redemptions on Star Alliance airlines.

I’m happy to share that LifeMiles is offering a special increased bonus on purchased LifeMiles for readers of OMAAT. Readers can receive an extra 15% bonus when buying between 2,000 and 150,000 miles, meaning you can earn up to a 140% bonus on purchased miles.

Here’s what the bonus chart looks like for OMAAT readers who register:

LifeMiles ordinarily sell for ~3.3 cents each, so if you max out the promotion and buy miles with a 140% bonus, you’re essentially paying just 1.375 cents per purchased mile, which is a fantastic value.

To take advantage of this offer you have to register on this page between December 12 and December 19, and then have to buy miles between December 13 and December 20, 2016.

You have to wait 24 hours from the time you register until you buy miles through the offer to get the better bonus. You should see the better bonus reflected on the purchase page once you’re eligible.

On top of the additional bonus on purchased miles, there’s also going to be a special promotion for OMAAT readers redeeming miles (including for travel in first & business class), which I’ll be sharing the details of shortly. So I’d recommend registering at this link even if you’re not 100% sure if you’ll want to buy miles yet, just so you have the option and your account is activated for the bonus.

Between the improved bonus on purchased miles (which is among the lowest prices we’ve ever seen) plus reduced redemption costs in some markets, this has the potential to be one of the most lucrative LifeMiles promotions yet.

Comments

  1. Delta would never get approval after their Aeromexico fiasco. United is the top contender for a majority equity stake.

  2. With the future of Avianca in doubt, I would not want to be a major investor in lifemiles unless i was able to liquidate them quickly.

  3. RE: “Does anyone know if you can book LH F class on Lifemiles yet?”

You’ve been able to book LH F on Lifemiles for quite a while. Some routes are easier to get than others.
I checked today and there were reward seats in F on FRA – JNB for example.

  4. @brodie I think it’s direct.

Are purchased miles bonused with the new LM CC? Could bring your cpp even lower

  5. nice. Almost wish I hadn’t booked those NH F redemptions the other day now depending on the details of the special promo

  6. the charge shows up as “Avianca Lifemiles” not sure if it gets the bonus points for either the CSR card or the Avianca card.

  7. actually, I went back and looked at my statement from the time I bought the miles and they did get “travel” bonus UR points on my CSP card

  8. This is one of the best miles purchase promotions I’ve found so far, looking forward to the special redemption promotion!

  9. No deal. Even with the bonus less than 150%. Give us 150% plus the bonus of 15% and we will max it out in to accounts of every single family member no matter how distant….

  10. @ John — LifeMiles doesn’t impose any fuel surcharges on award tickets, though has limited access to Singapore Airlines first class awards.

  11. @ Norman Boiani — This should qualify as an airfare purchase for the purpose of your credit card, so I so no reason it wouldn’t.

  12. @ David — There’s talk of another airline investing in Avianca, though it’s far from certain at this point, and also wouldn’t necessarily mean they’d drop their frequent flyer program or alliance. At this point I wouldn’t make any decisions based on that, because I suspect it would be a long time before anything major changes. As always, I’d only buy miles with a relatively short term use in mind (for redemptions within a year or less), so my advice is no different this time around.

  13. Lucky could you please put the links of the best use of Lifemiles? I cant seem to find your articles.

    Thanks!

  14. Hi Lucky, I have registered for the 15% more Lifemiles promotion yesterday but still I don’t see the additional miles when I try to buy 140,000 miles. Any comments or suggestions?

  15. @ Jay — You’ll have to wait 24 hours, at which point you should get an email from LifeMiles saying you’re eligible, at which point the bonus will automatically be reflected when you go to buy miles. Let me know if you have issues.

  16. Thanks Lucky! I am able to buy 130K Lifemiles with bonus came out to 312K. Appreciate your initiative of getting us an additional 15% bonus. Wish you and your team Merry Christmas and a safe Happy New Year 2017!
