Quick And Easy Way To Earn 250 Free Aeroplan Miles

Aeroplan (which is Air Canada’s spun off points program) has offered quite a few opportunities to pick up free miles lately, and now they’re back with their newest promotion.

You can earn 250 free Aeroplan miles if you tell Aeroplan about a recent travel experience. This is most useful for those with existing Aeroplan mileage balances, since miles expire after a year of inactivity, so participating in this should extend the life of your miles.

Taking advantage of this promotion should only take about a minute — you need to enter your name, email address, Aeroplan number, and some very basic details about your trip, like where you traveled to, and why.

Once you complete the form you’ll be brought to a page confirming that your bonus miles will post within 6-8 weeks. The verbiage is a bit weird in that it says that you earn the bonus miles “if your story is selected,” but an Aeroplan spokesperson confirmed that you get the bonus miles just for participating and sharing your story.

As I said above, this is an easy way to extend the expiration of your Aeroplan miles. They otherwise expire after a year of inactivity, so I think that’s the primary benefit of this promotion. Keep in mind that Aeroplan is transfer partners with Starwood Preferred Guest and American Express Membership Rewards, so there are lots of ways to collect these miles.

  1. @ Lucky, I just did it and the key part of the Aeroplan Feedback is ‘If your story is selected’ you will earn 250 Aeroplan points. Not guaranteed and was a waist of time!

  2. I wrote about half a page worth of text about my experiences in Kyoto this fall, and hit submit about a week ago. Yesterday I got 250 Aeroplan miles credited to my account with explanation “AEROPLAN MEMBER TRAVEL STORIES”. Credited miles are neither Aeroplan nor Air Canada Altitude status miles.
