Last week I summed up all the incredible Amex small business card sign-up bonuses that we’re seeing at the moment. We seem to have more Amex small business increased sign-up bonuses than I ever recall seeing before.

Well, now you can add another card to the list. The Blue for Business® Credit Card from American Express is offering a limited time increased sign-up bonus, valid through February 22, 2017.

This is one of Amex’s great no annual fee business cards, and there are three parts to this sign-up bonus:

  • Earn 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards points after making your first purchase on the card within the first three months
  • Earn 10x points at U.S. restaurants on the first $2,000 in purchases for the first six months
  • Earn 2x points on all qualifying purchases on the first $50,000 for the first year (an additional one point per dollar spent)

On top of that, as an ongoing benefit this card offers a 30% annual points bonus based on the past year’s purchases on your Blue for Business Card. That counts for base points earned, meaning you’d earn an additional 0.3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent.

In other words, you earn 2.3 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent for the first $50,000 you spend within the first year. You’re also earning 10.3x points at restaurants.

Put another way, keep in mind that in conjunction with The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN you can get up to 1.54 cents of value out of those points, by using them towards the cost of airfare. That’s potentially like a return of ~4.6% on the first $50,000 spent.

This is Amex’s best no annual fee business card that earns Membership Rewards points, and for big business spenders this is potentially the best bonus I recall seeing on the card. Do keep in mind, however, that there are lots of other great Amex small business offers, and some of them expire sooner than this offer:

You can read more about the basics of applying for Amex cards here.

But this increased offer on the no annual fee Blue for Business Card is worthy of consideration.

Comments

  1. Wouldn’t it be 10.3 points at restaurants, not 11.3? The bonus says 9 additional points per dollar so if the 30% is only on base spending it is like 1.3 points plus 9 bonus points on first 10k.

  2. What is the difference between Membership Rewards points and Membership Rewards Express points? I have the green card with Membership Rewards…so I would guess I”m able to combine points from this deal with my green card points?
