A bit over a week ago I wrote about how Virgin America was auctioning off some one-of-a-kind shoes on Ebay, in order to raise money for Soles4Souls, which helps get shoes and clothing to people in need.
What made these shoes so unique is that they’re Virgin America “first class shoes,” and have most of the same amenities as a Virgin America first class seat. This includes things like white leather, a stainless steel seatbelt buckle, a video display, a rechargeable battery, a USB phone charger, a wifi hotspot, and more.
At the time I wrote about the shoes, there were eight days remaining for the auction, and bidding was up to $1,625.
Well, the auction for these shoes is now complete, and I can’t believe how high the bidding went. The Virgin America first class shoes ended up selling for $97.877.77, after a total of 65 bids.
Something tells me we won’t actually be seeing these shoes out on the street anytime soon. 😉
Regardless, kudos to Virgin America for this unique auction, and kudos to the bidder for contributing so much to charity.
