JetBlue is in the process of launching flights in the competitive Boston to New York LaGuardia market. While they’ve long flown from Boston to Newark and Kennedy, they’re now launching a dozen daily weekday nonstop flights between Boston and New York LGA.
Best of all, if you fly this route in the coming months, you can earn up to 6,000 bonus TrueBlue points. In order to be eligible for this bonus you need to register, book, and fly between now and January 31, 2017. If you do, you can earn bonus points as follows:
- Fly 1 roundtrip flight (or 2 one-way flights) and earn 1,000 bonus points
- Fly a second roundtrip flight (or 2 more one-way flights) and earn an additional 2,000 bonus points
- Fly a third roundtrip flight (or 4 more one-way flights) and earn an additional 3,000 bonus points
TrueBlue is a revenue based program, and points can typically be redeemed for roughly 1.5 cents each towards the cost of a ticket on JetBlue. So that’s potentially like a return of ~$90 of airfare after three roundtrips. Admittedly that’s not as good as 75,000 bonus points after one roundtrip, but… 😉
JetBlue has some cheap fares in the market, starting at ~$60 roundtrip, so by the time you factor in the points you’d earn for flying (at least six points per dollar for booking through jetblue.com) and the points you earn for purchasing the ticket with a credit card, you can almost get as much in rewards as you paid for the ticket.
Has anyone booked JetBlue’s new route between Boston and LaGuardia?
