Yesterday I posted about how LOT Polish will be launching flights between Warsaw and Los Angeles as of April 2017. This represents the third Star Alliance airline to start transatlantic service to Los Angeles within a year, with SAS having launched flights to Stockholm a few months ago, and Austrian launching flights to Vienna next April.
Well, the new LOT Polish flight between Los Angeles and Warsaw is now bookable. As of April 3, 2017, LOT Polish will fly 4x weekly between Warsaw and Los Angeles using a Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
Per routesonline.com, the flight will operate with alternating schedules depending on the day of the week in order to maximize aircraft utilization:
LO21 Warsaw to Los Angeles departing 11:20AM arriving 2:40PM [Sat, Tue]
LO22 Los Angeles to Warsaw departing 4:30PM arriving 12:50PM (+1 day) [Sat, Tue]
LO23 Warsaw to Los Angeles departing 4:30PM arriving 7:50PM [Mon, Fri]
LO24 Los Angeles to Warsaw departing 9:40PM arriving 6:00PM (+1 day) [Mon, Fri]
The flight is blocked at 12hr20min westbound and 11hr20min eastbound, so it’s quite a haul.
As I mentioned yesterday, LOT Polish’s 787s have 18 business class seats each, spread across three rows in a 2-2-2 configuration. It’s a solid product, especially if traveling in pairs.
Well, now that these new LOT Polish flights are bookable, I should note that there are two business class award seats available every single day on the route. Historically finding nonstop Star Alliance transatlantic business class award seats out of Los Angeles is really tough, though lately it has gotten much easier. Austrian continues to have wide open business class award availability on their flight from Los Angeles to Vienna, and now LOT Polish has a good amount of space as well.
The catch is that not all Star Alliance websites are showing this availability yet, since it can take a while for systems to update. That being said, it should be bookable by phone already.
Booking this award one-way in business class will cost:
- 57,500 Air Canada Aeroplan miles (minimal fuel surcharges)
- 63,000 Avianca LifeMiles (no fuel surcharges)
- 65,000 Singapore KrisFlyer miles (minimal fuel surcharges)
- 70,000 United MileagePlus miles (no fuel surcharges)
It’s so great to see another Star Alliance transatlantic option to Los Angeles. Between Austrian and LOT Polish we should finally consistently see transatlantic business class award availability out of Los Angeles. While historically LOT Polish wasn’t a great airline, with their new fleet of 787s they have a solid product. I flew LOT Polish business class between New York and Warsaw a couple of years ago and enjoyed my flight, and would have no qualms flying them again.
Anyone planning on booking LOT Polish’s new flight between Warsaw and Los Angeles?
