Air Canada Offering Bonus Miles For Global Travel

This week Air Canada has announced their Destination Bonus Event, where members can earn bonus miles for upcoming travel. In order to be eligible for the promotion, travel has to be booked by November 14, 2016, and completed by April 30, 2017. Registration is required.

The good news is that the promotion is valid for travel all over the world, including within Canada, to the US, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia, etc. Through this promotion, the bonuses range from a percentage bonus on flown miles, to a fixed mileage bonus depending on how far you’re flying.

I won’t recap the entire promotion here, since it’s rather complicated, but just to give an example, here’s how their bonus miles offer is structured for travel to Europe. For select economy fares you can earn anywhere between 5,000 and 25,000 bonus miles per roundtrip:

Meanwhile for premium economy and business class fares you can earn between 10,000 and 35,000 bonus miles per roundtrip:

Obviously you’ll want to check the terms & conditions of each offer, though if you’re an Air Canada flyer who often books premium fares, this promotion has the potential to be rather lucrative. I don’t think the promotion is lucrative enough to switch any travel from other airlines to Air Canada, though perhaps it’s an incentive to book flights before the deadline, even if you’re only traveling next year.

Aeroplan miles can be great for Star Alliance redemptions, and they’re also transfer partners with American Express Membership Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest, so it’s easy to top off an account for a redemption.

  1. Also it is only good for bookings made after 09/26. Any booking made previous for flights during the promotion period will not count.

  2. Hi Lucky,

I am planning to fly from SGN to PDX in November (return) currently I am looking to fly with united (ana codeshare as well). I am looking to maximize my star alliance points on this flight (economy). would I be getting more miles with the above offer if I flew air Canada? and is my current UA flight idea a good idea in terms of miles?
