Hotel Promo Of The Year: BOGO At Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, And Curio

In the interest of full disclosure, One Mile At A Time earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. These are the best publicly available offers that we have found for each card. Please check out our advertiser policy for further details about the partners we work with. Thanks for your support!

I’ve written extensively about hotel programs like Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and Virtuoso, which offer extra perks for stays at luxury hotels.

There are some other programs out there as well, which are worth knowing about. One of those programs has an amazing promotion at the moment.

Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection benefits

One of the other hotel programs out there is the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection, which includes over 900 properties around the world. This program is open to those with Visa Signature & Visa Infinite cards, which includes products like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® CardMarriott Rewards® Premier Credit CardBritish Airways Visa Signature® CardThe Ritz-Carlton Rewards® Credit Card, etc.

For booking through this program you get the following perks:

  • Best available rate guarantee
  • Automatic room upgrade upon arrival, when available
  • Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi, when available
  • Complimentary continental breakfast daily
  • $25 USD food or beverage credit
  • VIP Guest status
  • 3PM check-out upon request, when available

Visa-Signature-Hotels

In general I don’t write about the program that much because I tend to think there are better ways to book, but at the moment they have an incredible promotion.

Enjoy a complimentary night with Conrad, Curio, or Waldorf Astoria

This promotion almost seems too good to be true. At the moment the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection is offering a complimentary night when you book a stay at over 50 participating Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, and Curio hotels.

Visa-Signature-Complimentary-Night

The promotion is valid for bookings made through December 31, 2016, and for stays through March 31, 2017.

The basic terms of this promotion are as follows:

Offer must be booked at one of the 50 participating Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts™, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, or Curio – A Collection by Hilton™ (“Participating Hotels”) by December 31, 2016, for stays through March 31, 2017 with an eligible Visa Premium card through a Visa Luxury Hotel Collection website or Visa Concierge. Minimum 2-night consecutive stay required. Free night will be the rate for the last night of the stay inclusive of associated taxes and fees and will be deducted at the hotel upon check-out. Maximum one free night per room, per stay. Back-to-back stays within 24 hours at the same hotel are considered one stay, regardless of check-out and check-in activity. Offer is subject to availability at the time of booking. Offer cannot be combined with any other offers or packages unless otherwise specified. Normal occupancy and cancelation policies apply. Hilton Worldwide and Visa reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to withdraw, cancel, modify, amend, suspend or terminate the offer, in whole or in part, in any way, at any time, for any reason, without prior notice or any liability to any person.

To take advantage of this offer you’ll want to book the hotel through the promotion page. For example, here’s the promotion page for the Waldorf Astoria Park City.

Waldorf-Astoria-Park-City

After you enter your dates you’ll see the “Stay 2 — Enjoy a Free Night” deal listed, which also includes the other standard benefits, like a $50 breakfast credit per day, $25 food & beverage credit, room upgrade, etc.

Waldorf-Deal

With this rate the cost of the second night will be subtracted at check-out, so the total would end up being $249 for the two night stay, or ~$125 per night, which is a steal for this property.

You can take advantage of this promotion as often as you’d like, though you can’t use it for back-to-back stays (meaning you need at least one night between stays at a given hotel to take advantage of this offer).

Furthermore, you should still earn elite stay credits and Hilton points for these stays (so be sure you also register for Hilton’s double points promotion if you’re staying before the end of the year).

Get a $75 gift card as well… maybe?

As if the above promotion wasn’t generous enough already, you can also possibly get a $75 gift card after completing a stay. The promotion page for enjoying a complimentary night has a link saying “Book by November 30 and also receive a $75 USD Visa gift card.”

Waldorf-Promo

When you get to that promotion page you’ll see an offer for a $75 gift card after booking a stay by November 30, 2016, and completing the stay by February 28, 2017. This offer can only be taken advantage of once, though is valid at all the same hotels as the other promotion. The gift card will be mailed to you within six weeks of when you complete your stay, and no registration is required to take advantage of this promotion.

Visa-Gift-Card

In theory it’s possible that the promotions can’t be combined, though there’s no registration required for this offer, so hopefully the gift card still arrives. Given that the two promotions are cross-promoted and specifically use the word “also,” I suspect you should be able to qualify for both.

Is this the promotion Visa is intending to offer?

This promotion seems too good to be true given how generous it is. Buy one get one free, plus a $75 gift card, plus free breakfast and a $25 credit, etc.

Nowadays we see a lot of poorly worded promotions, so some think Visa might be trying to offer a “buy two, get one free” promotion here.

In theory I could see that being the case, though every aspect of the promotion, including the terms, suggests that if you stay two nights you get the cost of the last night refunded.

Furthermore, when you get to the booking page the promotion automatically shows up when you search for a two night stay. Meanwhile when you search for a one night stay, the promotion doesn’t show up. So if this promotion is an error, it’s not just that the verbiage is wrong, but it’s also coded incorrectly — I’d feel pretty confident taking advantage of this promotion.

Bottom line

This is probably the best hotel promotion we’ve seen all year. If you have a US issued Visa Signature or Visa Infinite card, you can get a buy one get one free stay at a Conrad, Curio, or Waldorf Astoria property, which is incredible. On top of that you’ll get added perks, and possibly even a $75 gift card after your first stay.

I’m shocked by how generous the promotion is, so I’d certainly book sooner rather than later, just in case they change their mind about the promotion.

Will you be taking advantage of this incredible Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection promotion?

  1. Awesome! Does anyone know if this is stackable with free night certificates?

In other words, can I book the Conrad Maldives for 2 nights with this promotion, then add one free night certificate, for a total of 3 nights with 1 night paid?

    Thanks,

    D

  2. Does your credit card get charged in full for the two nights right when you book? The Conrad Singapore page says I can cancel up until the day before arrival.

  3. I know the $75 gift card i for US cards only, but does the free night apply to Canadian cards as well? or is it also US only?

  4. Could I stack this with ‘regular’ paid nights? E.g., use this offer for first 2 nights (pay 1, get 1 free), then have a regular booking (paid separately), then back to using this offer for another 2 nights (pay 1, get 1 free)?

  5. Seems valid for Asia issued cards as well (just tried a dummy booking):

Visa Luxury Hotel Collection Benefits: Terms & Conditions
    Card Eligibility

Only eligible Visa Infinite, Visa Signature and Visa Platinum cards issued in Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Visa Platinum cards issued in China, Central Europe, Middle East and Africa may book hotels at http://www.visaluxuryhotels.com and receive special Visa premium card benefits. Learn more about Visa Infinite and Visa Signature and Visa Platinum at http://www.visainfinite.com, http://www.visasignature-asia.com, and http://www.visacemea.com/wv/platinum/main.jsp.

  6. @ Michelle — If it’s not a pre-paid rate then you shouldn’t be charged until the actual stay, unless the terms state otherwise.

  7. @ Tai — That’s sort of a grey area. Technically I’d say no since that’s still a single stay. So you might get away with it, but it’s certainly not within the spirit of the promotion, and they could charge you the full price if that night in the middle isn’t at a different property (in which case you’d fully be following the rules).

  8. Do you think If a husband books a 2 night stay with his Visa Signature card at the Conrad Maldives and then his wife books a 2 night stay with her Visa Signature card at the same property both the 2nd and 4th nights would be deducted?

  9. This does seem like too good to be true, especially if this is true: “you should still earn elite stay credits and Hilton points for these stays (so be sure you also register for Hilton’s double points promotion if you’re staying before the end of the year)”.

I have already booked a revenue stay at the stupendous Rome Cavalieri, which is participating, for November. I am going to see if I can rebook through this promo instead. The key is that I must get elite qualifying points (i.e. base points) because I need this stay to count in order to requalify my HHD status…

    Let’s check it out…

  10. @ kevin — *Technically* that seems like it would be allowed. At least I don’t see anything in the terms that would disallow that.

  11. Clicked on the link you provided:

“For a limited time, enjoy one night free when you book two nights or more at participating Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts™, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, and Curio – A Collection by Hilton™ through the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection.”

Keyword – WHEN YOU BOOK TWO NIGHTS OR MORE

  12. @Lucky — You might not notice because you have no clue about how to make the most of your HH Diamond status, despite purportedly being in the business of advising people how to do just that 😉

Anyway, no luck booking at the Cavalieri through this promo for the dates I wanted (they straddle my B-day)!

I just got the following message:

“There are no available rooms found for requested dates. Please conduct your search for a different location or date. You can also call our reservations team for assistance. (PID10)

We’re sorry. No rooms found for these dates.
We’re sorry, but the special offer you have selected is not available for these dates.
Please change your dates above, or select another rate.”

Like I said, too good to be true. I will “stop clicking around” and just stick with what I already have, which already ensures that I will get 45HH/$. Now, my challenge is to charm myself into a suite upgrade at check-in at this iconic property 😉

    Stay tuned!

  13. @ Deal Breaker — Correct, you are booking two nights, and the last one is being refunded. They’re not saying “when you pay for two nights.” When you make a booking for two nights the complimentary night offer automatically shows up, while it doesn’t if you search just one night. This suggests to me that the promotion works for two night stays.

  14. Lucky – All Visa Signature cards are accepted. The $75 pre-paid card is valid only for US issued cards.
“To take advantage of this offer, book at any of the hotels listed to the right with your eligible Visa Signature® or Visa Infinite® card by December 31st, 2016 and complete a 2+ night stay by March 31st, 2017. Click through to book online (making sure to select the free night rate) or call a Visa Signature® Concierge.”
    For pre-paid card:
“Offer valid at participating Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts™, Conrad Hotels & Resorts™, or Curio – A Collection by Hilton™ (“Participating Hotels”) only for stays booked between August 1st, 2016 and November 30th, 2016 and completed between August 1st, 2016 and February 28th, 2017. Offer must be booked with a U.S.-issued Visa Signature card through the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection website (VisaSignatureHotels.com) to receive a one-time $75 USD Visa gift card.”

  15. Would I still receive Hilton Diamond benefits? Such as full breakfast, lounge access. When I book Conrad Bangkok through visa signature it only includes “continental breakfast”.

  16. @Lucky
What does it mean when it says “eligible” Visa Signature/Infinite cards. Is the implication that there are certain Signature/Infinite cards that aren’t eligible? I can’t find the definition on the website.

  17. This is so mindbogglingly lucrative it would be criminal not to share.

    1. Just “as is”, this Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection (LHRC) promo gives you a free night at some potentially very expensive properties + everything else listed that comes with it.

    2. If you make sure to sign up for the HHonors Q4 global promo, you’ll get a huge bang by earning double bonus HH points for stays through Dec 31, ’16.

    3. Then there is the icing on the cake or “la piece de resistance”, which is the sort things that make HHonors the most rewarding and vibrant program out there right now, if you would just stop listening to bloggers disparage it and do your own home work!!!

If you are a HHonors member and you book a stay through this LHRC promo at WA or Conrad, you will get additional bonus points from these 3 stakable promos, that are WA and Conrad brands-specific, and have been renewed the last 3 years running…

    A) EARN 2,000 BONUS POINTS EVERY NIGHT

MAKE YOUR STAY COUNT FOR MORE

[***Note that despite that APPARENT expiration date that suggests that promo is no longer active, there is credible evidence that it has been automatically extended year after year until one has completed all 3 stays then it stops! When I try to register, it tells me that you already registered for this promo, which I, in fact, did…3 years ago! So, please go ahead and register because it is still active]

    Enjoy!

  18. I just called Visa Signature and they confirmed the second night is free if you stay for just 2 nights. As a result, it’s pay for one night and get 2nd free. What an awesome deal!

  19. Has anyone confirmed whether the $75 works in addition to the second night free? Also, I read that the $75 only works when booking Visa Signature, not Visa Infinite, and as a result to be safe, should use a visa signature (so not the Chase Sapphire Reserve) when booking.

Do people agree with this approach? Would prefer to use CSR if this isn’t right.

  20. @Adrian L. — I do not see how the CSR would not qualify when this is one of its written benefits:

“Your stay with The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection℠ Awaits

Your Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ card brings you exclusive benefits at over 900 luxury hotels and resorts worldwide, including breakfast for 2, room upgrades, early check-ins/late check-outs, and a special amenity unique to each property.

These properties are reservation-only. That means that you make your reservations online, but you complete your payment with your Chase Sapphire Reserve℠ card upon check-out at the hotel. Other than a deposit, which some hotels require with the reservation, you will not pay in advance. Because these are reservation-only properties, they do not accept points as payment.

Would you like to browse these luxury properties now?”

In fact, I am beginning to suspect that it may not be by coincidence that this lucrative visa offer is rolled out immediately after Chase has what may be one of their most successful signup campaigns with the CSR. What a better time to roll out this offer than when lots of folks are looking for ways to spend $4K within 3 months in order to get the 100K signup bonus points?!

  21. @DCS
The t&c on 2000 points and 5000 points plan state ‘To receive 2,000 Bonus Points, registered Hilton HHonors members must book plan code PBK2P1 and complete a stay at participating hotels during the Promotional Period (“Stay Requirement”).’ and ‘To receive 5,000 Bonus Points per stay, registered Hilton HHonors must book plan code PBK5P1 and stay at least two consecutive nights at participating hotels during the Promotional Period (“Stay Requirement”).’. This suggests to me at least these two won’t be stackable, different from prior years. Plus you have to select either one of this plan when booking, which sucks since my company require all bookings to be handled by our corporate travel agent. I have 3 nights stay at Conrad Dublin coming up next week, i hope i’m wrong but unlikely.

  22. @Karens — They do stack. Just follow the links and register. You won’t even have to enter anything promo codes if you follow the links. After you complete a stay at a WA or Conrad you will be shown as having registered for the promos and get the points automatically.

Here’s what I earned in December 2015 on a 5-night REWARD stay at Conrad Koh Samui (I had already been awarded the points for promo (C) above so it will not show). Note that points from promos (A) and (B) and those from the HHonors Q4 2015 Gobal Promo did stack:

    — Base Points: 2096
    — (Promo A) LRM 2K POINTS OFFER: 10000
    — (Promo B) LRM 5K POINTS OFFER: 5000
    — (Q4 2015 Global Promo) 2015 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP OFFER: 3352

Note that I had spent just $209.60 on incidentals but earned 23,455 from that REWARD stay, most from the 3 stacked promos (other points no shown)

  23. Re: “Don’t worry, if you drop to Gold you won’t notice a difference in terms of treatment”

Good one Lucky 🙂 very true though given the lack of differences in published benefits

  24. BTW, @Karens and everyone interested in making the most of these stacked offers: Make sure to give your HHonors acct number to the LHRC people who do the booking so that it will be automatically associated with your HH account. Or get the reservation number so that you can find the booking yourself and associate it with your account number. That would ensure that nothing points “fall through the cracks”…

  25. How utterly stupid can one be…

I am out of here because an otherwise civil and informative discussion is about to go down to where the “sun don’t shine”…

    G’day!

  26. @DCS
Actually, I registered for promo C before but never received the points for my stay in WA Shanghai in June, despite all the double Hhonors point promo and double JAL mile promo being applied for the same stay. So let’s see what happens next week. I hope i’m wrong..

  27. @Karens — There was a lag before the promos were renewed or extended. I stayed at Conrad Hong Kong in May and I did not get any points, but that was because “the offer is valid for stays booked and completed between June 16, 2016, and December 31, 2016 (“Promotional Period”).”

If your stay at WA Shanghai on the Bund — great property where I’ve stayed twice, with a junior suite upgrade and an assigned personal concierge each time — in “June” was within the promo period as defined above then you need to submit a retro-credit request and I am sure they’ll fix it (an original receipt from WA, which you can request, might be needed).

I have no doubt that points from these promos will stack, but even if they are not because of booking through LHRC, I will still be safe for my upcoming Rome Cavalieri stay, which is very short and expensive, but I will rake in enough points to be able to afford a free stay at a Cat 10 property…

  28. BTW, WA Park City is out near the Canyons, be aware if you book and expect to be in Park City proper. Now that Vail resorts owns PC Mtn resort they’re working hard to connect the ski areas via tram. Continued effort is being put into connecting Park City to one of the Cottonwood Canyons (I think it’s Little Cottonwood, so Snowbird, Alta). And if you’re interested in skiing then look up the Epic pass, something like $829 for unlimited adult skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Park City, Heavenly and others. If Sundance were part of it I’d be all in on the Child pass for my kids, $429!

  29. @forest – I had no problem making a booking through the US Visa website, using my Canadian issued Visa Infinite card. The T&Cs on my confirmation only state that the room must be paid with a Visa Signature, Infinite or select Premium cards.

Not holding my breath on the $75 gift card though.

  30. Lucky,

Can I stay 2 nights in Tokyo in December and 2 nights in Thailand? Basically, using this offer twice since its separate hotels and bookings.

    Thanks!

  31. Lucky, would I be able to book a 2 night stay with my Visa signature card for somebody else (such as a family member)?? Do I have to be present at the hotel stay? Thanks!

  32. Checked through the Visa Luxury Collection for Logan Philadelphia: $698 a night minus the one free night for a one-bedroom suite. Booking directly through Hilton for 2 nights is $323 a night. Ridiculous.

  33. @wjsecond:
I got tripped up there too (same hotel oddly enough) The price shown on VSH is the total – 698 is 349/night, then they’ll credit last last night back. Probably 5% more per night than booking through hilton if you’re an hhonors member, but I think VSH will match any public rate if you contact them.

The $75 offer is gone on my special offers page 🙁 Not sure if anyone else is seeing the same thing.

  34. DCS, doesn’t it say you have to book with the promo though?

THANK YOU FOR REGISTERING! BOOK NOW WITH PLAN CODE PBK2P1 AND FOR EVERY NIGHT, EARN 2,000 BONUS POINTS.

  35. @Josh — All that means is that you must book an eligible Hilton rate, which is fairly broadly defined and includes AWARD stays. The important thing is to REGISTER and then to book an eligible rate. To emphasize that the promos do stack with whatever else is going on, I am providing the earnings I have gotten in the past from the same promos; two were on PURE award stays and one (Conrad HKG) was on a mixture of revenue and award stay (not C+P but 2 nights cash + 2 nights award).

Note that you do not have to spend ANY money to earn points from these 3 brand-specific promos, which is another feature unique to many HH promos.

I did not pay any attention to which “Plan Code” I booked to get the promo points below…

    21 Dec 2015 – 24 Dec 2015 — WALDORF ASTORIA BEIJING [3 promos stacked]
    — (Promo A) LRM 2K POINTS OFFER: 6000
    — Base Points: 5051
    — 2015 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP OFFER: 5049
    — (Promo B) LRM 5K POINTS OFFER: 5000

    24 Dec 2015 – 29 Dec 2015 — CONRAD KOH SAMUI [3 promos stacked]
    — Base Points: 2096
    — (Promo A) LRM 2K POINTS OFFER: 10000
    — (Promo B) LRM 5K POINTS OFFER: 5000
    — (Q4 2015 Global Promo) 2015 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP OFFER: 3352

    08 Jan 2016 – 09 Jan 2016 — CONRAD HONG KONG [4 promos stacked]
    — Base Points: 14143
    — (Q1 2016 Global Promo) 2016 DOUBLE YOUR HHONORS OFFER: 14143
    — (Promo A) LRM 2K POINTS OFFER: 6000
    — (Promo B) LRM 5K POINTS OFFER: 5000
    — AMEX DOUBLE YOUR HHONORS 2016 1K BONUS: 1000

  36. @DCS – thanks for the detailed reply, I appreciate it! This helps a lot.

So for stays we just have to register before booking. When booking, we DON’T have to enter any promo codes?

Also, we don’t know of any bonus for Q1 2017 yet do we?

  37. LOL this now died. Great while lasted.

Booked 2 nights each at Conrad New York, Conrad Bali, and Conrad London St. James. Great deal. Not expecting the $75 gift card but if I get one would not mind.

  38. @Josh — Register and forget about it.You’ll get the points, if the promos are still active during your stay….

We do not know what Q1 2017 promo will be, and these long-running WA and Conrad-specific promo are good to 12/31/16. They may not be extended right away as happened this year when they were restarted in June to December…

  39. Used the special successfully at Philadelphia Logan for a suite & all benefits, $30 breakfast/day, $25 F&B Credit, last night free. Neither the free night or F&B credit was on my bill at checkout but both were given upon request with no hassle. The ‘Visa Special’ was mentioned at breakfast. Just one word of warning, the valet ‘misinformed’ me and said valet was $55/night or self park was $47/night. Just 1/2 block away there is $33/night parking.

No word on the gift card. I’m hoping it shows up in the mail I guess. Happy without it. Nice hotel but I wouldn’t call it full service or luxury, one notch below.

  40. @Jim: How did the food and beverage credit work and breakfast work? Did you just charge it to the room or did you get it comped from the start?

  41. Just used this at the Waldorf in Berlin. Fantastic hotel. Was upgraded to a huge junior suite. The F&B credit turned out to be $25/day not per stay as I thought. Berlin isn’t an expensive hotel market but still, I effectively paid $130/night for a huge room in one of the city’s best hotels.

  42. I am not sure if anyone else but @Lucky is still subscribed to this thread but…woah! The “Hotel Promo Of The Year” was as good as advertised, and it’s turned out to be like a gift that keeps on giving!

First, as part of the BOGOl, I stayed last month for 4 nights at Conrad Hong Kong (2 BOGO nights + 2 points-only award nights), got a $25 folio credit for food and beverages and, then, when the points for the stay posted, I noticed that I had been awarded more than twice the number of base points that I should have earned for the cash I spent! Now, after I’d completely forgotten about it, I just checked my snail mail today and there it was,and it read:

    “To: DCS
    From: Visa
    Amount: $75
We hope you enjoyed your stay at a Waldorf Astoria, Conrad or Curio hotel. As part of our limited-time promotion, enclosed is a US$75 Visa Gift card.”

So, not only was the BOGO an incredible deal, which I parlayed into an unsolicited complimentary suite upgrade for 4 nights at Conrad Hong Kong, got a $25 folio credit for F&B, got more than twice the number of base points I should have gotten for the spending I did, and now I get a gift card for $75, which I’d completely forgotten about!!!

@Lucky, since this was such a hot deal, it might be worth it to do a post that informs folks that visa is mailing out $75 gift cards associated with the “Hotel Promo Of The Year”. It would also be interesting to know where and how people spent their BOGO.

    Wunderbar!
