Spirit Airlines Safety Demo: I Haven’t Laughed This Hard In Years

Spirit Airlines Safety Demo: I Haven’t Laughed This Hard In Years

16

Southwest Airlines is known for their flight attendants doing humorous safety demonstrations, and many of them have gone viral over the years. It’s also a good fit for the airline, given the reputation they have for offering a fun and quirky experience.

Well, I just stumbled upon a safety demonstration someone posted from a Spirit Airlines flight. Somehow it has been online since last year, but I haven’t seen it until now. It’s quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

In the video you can see a Spirit flight attendant singing the safety demonstration to the tune of “Leaving On A Jet Plane.” It’s actually pretty good for what it is, though there’s something hilarious about the flight attendant totally missing the mark as to what his passengers are into.

I literally had tears in my eyes after watching the video, when you combine the flight attendant singing with the reactions of the passengers.

I’m not exaggerating, this is actually the hardest I’ve laughed in a very long time. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the video (though it’s NSFW, as the passenger filming it uses some inappropriate language):

AMAZING!

Found a video with a more appreciative group of passengers. Kind of makes me want to fly Spirit (well...maybe only once...and only if Spirit can guarantee this guy will be working).

Aww, the guy is just trying to inject a little fun into a tedious part of his job. I'm sure it isn't necessary to be unkind.

OMG this is hilarious! But good on the FA for singing through the entire thing without breaking a voice! The things you do for your job. I'm surprised there isn't any interpretative dancing along with the song.
Loved the passengers' reactions. The guy to the right with the headphones looks like he's about to cry.

If this is NSFW, you should try Reddit or 4Chan sometime.

@ Lucky — Appreciate the conservatism, but what exactly IS SFW anymore...?

I have a feeling if 50% of your readership had OMAAT up on their screens while at "work", their bosses would double check their vacation days. Same goes for my social media photos. Let's just leave HR out of it ;)

That was very cleverly done! Thank you for sharing. I have my opinion about flying on Spirit Airlines but kudos to their FA for a really cool and entertaining safety announcement.

If that's the funniest thing you've ever seen, then you really need to get out more. And what's with NSFW? What is this? 1998 where people sit with computer speakers blaring at their desk and someone might overhear something? Oh my gosh!

I think the FA is great. I think the guy filming is a douche. Who wouldn't want some entertainment when you have to be on a Spirit plane. One day it will all be recordings and we will miss this personal touch.

Great execution to the song, and way to stay committed. Too bad no one appreciated his voice, I'm willing to bet that a different group of passengers would have appreciated it more...

Just spit all over my computer screen while laughing...

Still better than Ben Affleck from Armageddon

@Lucky, I know this has nothing to do with the Sprit post but, Which aircraft do you prefer? Boeing 747-8I or Airbus A380-800. I would love to know.

Awwww I feel bad for the guy. He did a pretty good job and wasn't getting any love. I think a Southwest crowd would've appreciated his performance a bit more.
