Virgin America just turned nine, and to celebrate, they have a nice promotion for those booking a flight with Virgin America.
Virgin America is offering 999 Elevate bonus points if you book a flight and travel between August 8 and September 30, 2016.
Registration is required prior to taking your flight, and bonus points should post to accounts within four to six weeks of eligible flights.
On a per point basis, Virgin America Elevate points are among the most valuable out there. The points can be redeemed for ~2.2 cents each towards the cost of a ticket on Virgin America, or otherwise can be redeemed for a fixed amount towards an award on a partner airline. So 999 points are worth $20+ towards airfare on Virgin America.
Redeem 45,000 Elevate points for a one-way ticket in Virgin Australia business class
No, that’s not a reason in and of itself to take a flight on Virgin America, though it’s a very nice bonus if you’re already planning on flying with them. This stacks very nicely with their birthday fare sale, where we’re seeing fares starting at just $39 one-way.
With the loyalty programs of the “big three” US carriers less rewarding, there are more reasons than ever before to consider flying other carriers. While 999 bonus Elevate points isn’t life changing, it’s a very nice bonus, especially given how cheap many of their fares are.
For example, I need to fly between San Francisco and Los Angeles soon, and plan on booking Virgin America. This promotion is the icing on the cake.
