Starbucks is back with a similar promotion to what they offered earlier in the year.
Starbucks is offering a $5 bonus gift card when you purchase at least a $10 Starbucks electronic gift card using Visa Checkout. The promotion is valid through August 18, 2016, or for the first 200,000 people to take advantage of the offer — whichever comes first (I suspect the promotion will be maxed out before August 18).
Each person is eligible for one $5 bonus, and you’ll see the $5 bonus reflected on your receipt (though not before that).
Even if you’ve never used Visa Checkout, this is super easy to do. Even without a Visa checkout account the whole process should take less than a few minutes. That’s a steal for $5 of free spend at Starbucks.
To take advantage of this offer, simply go to this page where you can purchase a Starbucks gift card.
Select the amount of $10, and put it in your cart.
Then you’ll be prompted to select your payment method — choose Visa Checkout.
If you don’t yet have a Visa Checkout account, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address (if you have a Visa Checkount account, the process is even easier).
Then you’ll be prompted to enter your name, address, and phone number.
Then you’ll be prompted to enter your credit card information.
Then you can check out and complete your purchase. A minute later you should receive an email confirming your $15 gift card purchase (even though you paid just $10). This is super easy.
If you do take advantage of this promotion, keep in mind that Starbucks purchases qualify as dining spend for the purposes of your credit card, so use a card like the Citi Prestige® Card, Premier Rewards Gold Card from American Express, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, etc. You can actually use a non-Amex card through Visa Checkout, weird as it might sound.
Taking advantage of this promotion is an absolute no brainer, as you’re basically getting a 50% bonus on a $10 Starbucks gift card. You’ll want to take advantage of this as soon as possible, since supplies are limited. Even those who took advantage of the last promotion (like me) are eligible for this one as well.
