The SPG Dashboard is a pretty useful site you can use to access the offers available to you through SPG. It shows your progress towards earning status, how many points you’ve earned through promotions, etc. On top of that, it shows you both global and targeted promotions available to you.
With that in mind, it looks like Starwood has just introduced a new targeted promotion, though it seems to be pretty widely targeted. All the SPG accounts I have access to seem to show this on their dashboard.
If you’re targeted, Starwood is offering 500 bonus Starpoints when you make and complete a Cash & Points booking by September 11, 2016.
Bonus points should be posted to your SPG account within two to four weeks of the eligible stay. If you’re targeted, you don’t have to register for the promotion.
Cash & Points is one of the best uses of Starpoints, so this makes such a redemption even better. I value Starpoints at ~2.2 cents each, so to me 500 Starpoints are worth ~$11. That’s not anything massive, but it’s a nice bonus if you’d make a stay anyway, and in some cases could even sway the value proposition of a specific stay.
As a reminder, Starwood’s points redemption rates are as follows:
|Category||Weekday Free Night||Weekend Free Night||Fifth Night Free||Cash & Points|
|1||3,000||2,000||n/a||1,500 + $30|
|2||4,000||3,000||n/a||2,000 + $35|
|3||7,000||7,000||28,000||3,500 + $55|
|4||10,000||10,000||40,000||5,000 + $75|
|5||12,000 - 16,000||12,000 - 16,000||48,000 - 64,000||6,000 + $110|
|6||20,000 - 25,000||20,000 - 25,000||80,000 - 100,000||10,000 + $180|
|7||30,000 - 35,000||30,000 - 35,000||120,000 - 140,000||15,000 + $275|
As you can see, Cash & Points bookings start at just 1,500 Starpoints plus $30 per night, so through this promotion your out of pocket for a one night stay at a Category 1 property could be just 1,000 Starpoints plus $30.
Cash & Points bookings at Le Meridien Marrakech cost just 1,5000 Starpoints + $30 per night
Were you targeted for 500 bonus Starpoints for making a Cash & Points booking?
