Well, we’re seeing a good old fashioned business class fare war at the moment between oneworld and SkyTeam, with some fantastic fares which can get even better with a few tricks.

I’m seeing plenty of SkyTeam fares in the $1,500-1,600 range for travel between the US and Europe.

Delta-Cheap-Fare

There’s even an incredible roundtrip fare between San Francisco and Istanbul on SkyTeam of under $1,100 roundtrip.

KLM-Fare

Oneworld also seems to have fares in the $1,500-1,600 range out of several US markets to Italy, valid for travel between August 2016 and March 2017.

For example, take the below ~$1,630 fare between San Francisco and Rome on British Airways:

BA-Fare-1

While that’s a great fare to begin with, you can use the usual “tricks” to lower the cost by $400 plus 10%.

First you can save $400 per ticket by being an AARP member, as described in this post. Anyone can join AARP for $16 per year — there’s no age requirement.

Europe-flash-sale-6

You have to click through the AARP portal to receive the discount, and the discount will be reflected in the flights as you select them. The discount is valid on British Airways marketed flights, though you can fly on a partner like American or Iberia, which are also options on this fare.

Iberia business class

The discounted price is reflected in your total as long as you shop through the AARP portal, so there’s nothing extra you have to do. In this case it lowers the fare to ~$1,235.

BA-Discount

You can also save a further 10% by using promotion code CARDOFFERU at the time of booking, which is valid for those with the British Airways Visa Signature® Card.

BA-VISA-DISCOUNT

It’s worth noting that’s only valid on flights both marketed and operated by British Airways, so if you want to take advantage of that you need to fly British Airways the whole way, rather than American and/or Iberia.

That lowers the fare to ~$1,111.

Cheap-Business-Class-Europe-2

This is an incredible value, among the cheapest business class fares I’ve seen to Europe. I assume there are other markets available as well, so just be sure to use ITA Matrix or Google Flights to look at availability.

This deal definitely won’t last, so if you’re interested I’d recommend taking advantage of these fares as soon as possible. You can always cancel within 24 hours.

Are you headed to Europe on these incredible SkyTeam and oneworld fares?

  1. the BA/AA deals are only available to Italy and Malta…Houston is the cheapest followed by DEN and then SFO. Just snagged a SFO-FCO deal for February! There is a minimum stay of 7 days required for the BA fares…

  2. It seems like San Francisco to Rome via Chicago also works all the way through in AA metal, not just operated by BA. Thanks for inspiring Spring Break 2017 plans.

  3. Why are these so cheap ex-SFO when the equivalent flights/dates (even airline) ex-LAX is more than triple the price? LAX-IST 9/13-9/21 is $3,627 r/t on KLM for example … sigh.

  4. @Zach
    Nah, I’m too lazy 🙂

Am finding lots of $1600-$1650 Biz fares to various German cities ex-LAX through Thanksgiving however, seems very peculiar as they aren’t available to any other countries

  5. Buy thru air France and get the $200 credit back on Amex gold card! My fare from SFO to Ist is now $800 round trip on klm!

  6. Booked KLM business from sfo to ist R/T for 1080 bucks in Nov! Will credit to Alaska. Thanks!

  7. Two questions. Is the $200 credit back using AMEX one of the AMEX offers you need to see if you are eligible for? I’m not seeing it on my platinum or starwood card.

Do I need to book via Expedia/Orbitz to be able to cancel within 24 hours (rather than directly with Air France/KLM)? Normally I prefer to book direct with the airline, but of course want the grace period.

  8. I’ve been looking on Google flight explorer to find these fares with Oneworld airlines but can’t see to find any this cheap – only in the $3500 in spite of the dates I enter (and 7 night stay) – even using the price graph in google doesn’t find anything that cheap. Is this a mistake/is the fare over?

  9. how long was this fare available? Its over 5000 now.
how do you catch these exceptional fares when they pop up?
