Yesterday I posted about how you can earn two bonus American miles per dollar spent with Hilton by using the AAdvantage eShopping Portal to make your booking. In general shopping portals are a great way to earn bonus points for purchases you’d make anyway, though it’s fairly rare to see airline mileage portals offer bonuses for hotel stays.
Well, as it turns out, American isn’t just offering bonus miles for stays at Hiltons, but also for stays at other brands. Reader Brad points out that there are several other hotels participating in the AAdvantage eShopping Portal as well.
Specifically, I see the following opportunities to earn bonus AAdvantage miles:
In all cases stays using discount or corporate codes are excluded. In practice, stays booked using AAA rates, pre-paid rates, etc., should be eligible. However, stays booked using corporate rates or other specifically negotiated rates won’t generally be eligible.
This is a great way to pick up additional miles for hotel stays you’d make anyway, since you still earn hotel points as usual — these portals simply redirect you to the hotel’s website, so this is no different than if you just went directly to the hotel’s website.
Now if only Hyatt and Starwood would also participate…
