Weekly Review: April 30, 2016

I’m spending the week in Las Vegas, first for the Freddie Awards, and now for Frequent Traveler University. I’ve realized that while I love Las Vegas for 36-48 hours, anything beyond that drives me nuts. At least I’m staying busy, so I can ignore the people having beer in the casino at 8AM. I’m also in downtown Las Vegas for the first time, which is… wow!

Starting next week I have some international travel coming up to review new airlines, so stay tuned for that.

Discounted Transatlantic Summer Business Class Fares On Airberlin

Oneworld airline airberlin has a transatlantic business class fare sale for travel this summer.

Best I can tell the discounted airberlin business class fares are available for travel between the US and Europe with departure dates between July 1 and August 31, 2016. There’s a Saturday night minimum stay required.

I’d also note that these fares are non-refundable and even non-changeable, but are as low as ~$1,800 for summer travel.

Which Transferable Points Are Most Valuable?

One of the keys to avoiding disappointment with points as much as possible is to collect transferable points currencies. These are currencies like American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou.

The reason these points are so valuable is because you can transfer them to many partner programs when you’re ready to redeem, which is a great way to protect your points from devaluations. In my case, I take it a step further and collect all the major transferable points currencies, which protects me even further from devaluations, as it diversifies my points as much as possible.
