As I first wrote about in February, we’re seeing the highest ever sign up bonus at the moment on the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card, which is the no annual fee Hilton credit card issued by Citi. This limited time sign-up bonus is ending on April 1, 2016, so you have another four days to take advantage of this offer.
Here’s why you should seriously consider picking up this card:
Increased sign-up bonus on the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature Card
As stated above, the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card is offering an increased limited time sign-up bonus. The offer is for 75,000 Hilton HHonors bonus points after making $2,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening.
Per the offer terms, the sign-up bonus is only available to those who have not opened or closed the card in the past 18 months.
The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card isn’t the most lucrative out there in terms of return on everyday spend, both in comparison to the other co-branded Hilton credit cards out there, as well as compared to other cards in general.
The card offers the following points earnings structure:
- 6x points for each $1 spent at any participating hotel within the Hilton portfolio
- 3x points on purchases at supermarkets, drugstores, and gas stations
- 2x points on everything else
Beyond that, the card offers some status benefits as well, including:
- Complimentary HHonors Silver status for as long as you have the card
- Fast track to HHonors Gold status after four Hilton stays within your first 90 days of cardmembership

Benefits of having a no annual fee credit card
One of the big factors which contributes to your credit score is your average age of accounts.
That’s why it could make sense to apply for some no annual fee credit cards and keep them long term, so that you can keep your average account age as high as possible. That’s one of the things contributing to my high credit score.
So if you can pick up a no annual fee card to keep long term and it has a great sign-up bonus on top of that, it’s a “win,” in my book.
Comparing this to Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve Card
Personally if I were to just apply for one co-branded Citi Hilton credit card, it would be the Citi Hilton Reserve Card. While it has a $95 annual fee, it is better in just about every way, including:
- HHonors Gold status for as long as you have the card (which gets you free breakfast/club lounge access and more)
- HHonors Diamond status when you spend $40,000 on the card in a year
- A sign-up bonus of two free weekend nights at any property in the world (potentially worth up to 190,000 HHonors points)
- An anniversary free weekend night bonus for any year in which you spend $10,000 on the card
The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve Card is the co-branded Hilton card I’ve had for years now, and it has served me well.

Comparing this to other Citi cards
One major thing to consider before applying for this card is Citi’s limits on new credit card applications:
- You can only apply for one Citi card every eight days
- You can apply for no more than two Citi cards every 65 days
When it comes to applying for Citi cards, my top priority would be applying for the Citi Prestige Card, which I consider to be the hottest credit card out there. Other than that, this is a great option, given that it’s a limited time offer.
If you’ve been considering this increased sign-up bonus on the no annual fee Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card, you have four days left to apply.
While there are other cards I’d apply for first, 75,000 points is a great sign-up bonus for a no annual fee card. There’s huge value in holding onto no annual fee cards long term, and this is the best sign-up bonus we’ve seen on this card.
The last (and only) time the bonus was this high on this card was last September, so I’d imagine it would be a similar interval before we see a bonus like this.
I’d seriously consider applying for this card if you value Hilton points and could use a no annual fee card to help build (or maintain) your credit score.
