The Chase Freedom is one of my favorite no annual fee credit cards, as it offers 5x points in rotating quarterly categories.
The best part is that in conjunction with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, points earned on this card can be converted into “premium” Ultimate Rewards points, and be transferred to Ultimate Rewards airline and hotel partners.
If you have the Chase Freedom card, you’re required to register every quarter by entering your last name, last four digits of your card, and zip code. Today is the last day to activate the first quarter bonus:
Gas Stations and Local Commuter Transportation* (including UBER, taxis, subways, local commuter buses, and trains; not including parking, tolls, and Amtrak® purchases)
To register you’ll have to enter your last name, the last four digits on your card, and the zip code. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be brought to a confirmation page, which confirms your eligibility.
How to make Chase Freedom points even more valuable
Just to recap, you earn points on the Chase Freedom, and each point can be redeemed for one cent cash back.
However, if you have this card in addition to one of the cards that accrue “premium” Ultimate Rewards points, you can transfer these points to Ultimate Rewards. Cards that accrue “premium” Ultimate Rewards Cards include the:
So 5% cash back converts into 5x Ultimate Rewards points per dollar with one of the above cards. Ultimate Rewards points are worth more than a cent each, so that’s awesome.
If you haven’t yet registered to earn 5x points this quarter with the Chase Freedom, be sure to do so by today. Then starting tomorrow, March 15, you can register to earn 5x points at grocery stores and more this Spring.
And if you don’t yet have the Chase Freedom, it really is a card which is worth signing up for. Not only can it help boost your Ultimate Rewards balance, but having a card without an annual fee long term can help boost your credit score as well.
Have you activated the 5x points category for the first quarter with the Chase Freedom?
