After having spent last week in Colombia and taking a quick trip to Orlando, I’m now on my first pure mileage run of the year, headed to Panama City. Mileage runs used to be a large part of my life back in the day, so it’s sort of fun to be on one again. I do recognize I’m getting old, though, because I can’t handle domestic redeyes as well as in the past (even in flat beds). On the plus side, the sunrises never get old.

Redeye

Next week I’ll be starting a really fun trip, and should also have the Iberia/LAN/Oman Air/Air France trip report completely finished by mid-week. After that I plan on writing about my trip to Australia and New Zealand over New Years, so stay tuned for that.

6 Great Uses Of Alaska Miles

LAN-Business-Class-787 - 25

Alaska Mileage Plan is one of my all around favorite mileage currencies, as they have a unique array of partners, favorable award redemption rates, and allow free stopovers on one-way award tickets (one of the few airlines which allows that nowadays).

As a matter of fact, I’d say the relative value of Mileage Plan miles is increasing even further, given the upcoming devaluation of AAdvantage miles on March 22, 2016.

Not only is this sign-up bonus great, but the cards have long term value as well.

American Status Benefits On Tickets Booked With Citi Points

An OMAAT reader posted in the Ask Lucky forum recently, asking how elite benefits and upgrades work if you book American Airlines flights through Citi ThankYou.

Tickets booked through Citi’s website using ThankYou points are unique, in that they’re treated the same as any other purchased tickets. These aren’t award tickets — they’re eligible for mileage accrual, upgrades, status benefits, etc.

So, how do you actually go about getting your AAdvantage number on a reservation booked with Citi ThankYou points?

Today 6th March at 2:35am Air India will fly 17hrs direct flight from Delhi to San Fransisco. It isn't an ordinary flight. The flight will set a new world record of being the longest operated flight by all women crew including the pilots.

Lucky, just a quick hello from Tokyo; for business reasons I tend to fly quite a lot, and even though my Business flight on Austrian today (from Vienna) was okay, this constant flying around gets on my nerves. I always enjoy reading your posts, and I am truly impressed by your stamina (if that is the right word), viel Spaß weiterhin, und lass dich von blöden Kommentatoren nicht verunsichern, du machst einen tollen Job! For an upcoming flight I can hey 2x Etihad mules, 0.75x aa miles or 0.75 miles Korean miles.

Which is better? Etihad is better but I have read they screw up the bonus miles and pain to deal with.

I can't wait to read your report on your trip to Australia - I grew up there, and am headed back there this September, flying AA F for the first time on the way there, and Qantas Business on the return trip (I wish it was Qantas First, and AA Business, but couldn't find an award fare for that configuration!)
