Buy A Discounted Starbucks Gift Card Through Groupon

Wow, the shocking part of this deal is that Groupon is still in business… I had no clue.

My number one tip for dealing with jetlag/constant travel/timezone changes is caffeine. Drink coffee early and often… at least that’s what I do.

Coffee

While Starbucks isn’t my favorite coffee in the world, there’s something to be said for having access to a consistent cup of coffee no matter where in the world you are.

That’s why I think this deal is worth pointing out. Through tomorrow, December 30, 2015, Groupon is selling $15 Starbucks gift cards for $10. These are e-gift cards which are delivered by email, and then you can add them to your existing Starbucks gift card balance.

The process is quite easy — buying the gift card takes less than a minute (though if you don’t have a Groupon account you’ll have to sign up for one first, which is still a quick process), and then within a couple of hours you’ll receive an email with the “voucher” you can apply to your Starbucks balance.

While $5 savings isn’t a huge amount, I’d say it’s not half bad for just a couple of minutes of work.

  1. In 2018 AAdvantage is going to be offering $5 off on Starbucks gift cards for 5,000 miles, true story.

  2. “While Starbucks isn’t my favorite coffee in the world, there’s something to be said for having access to a consistent cup of coffee no matter where in the world you are.”

I’ll double shot espresso to that sentiment. Ever wonder how often airlines clean the on-board coffee makers ? I did once….then wished I hadn’t.

  3. Shocking that Groupon is still in business? I buy from Groupon several times a week. Lots of good deals to be had there. Surprised you didn’t advise to make the purchase through a shopping portal. I use the Alaska Airlines portal myself.

  4. +1Robert. I actually have 2 Groupon accounts for just these type of offers. I have a 1 latte per day habit, so this is well worth my effort. BTW, this is a common offer that pops up every few months.

I don’t know why you introduce this Groupon deal by pointing out that Starbucks is all over the world. While Starbucks may be ubiquitous, it’s not a compelling reason to consider this deal. Starbucks gc’s cannot be redeemed outside the US.

    What an odd post.

  6. @David. You’re a sourpuss. Now sign off and go to sleep. If the deal doesn’t work for you, do be it. Others if us can use it. Now be gone.

  7. I would keep an eye out because Groupon frequently has $10 gift cards for $5, but this is still a good deal!

  8. Actually, you can use the card in a few other countries including both us neighbors, the uk, ireland and australia.

However, still an odd post from lucky. (No credit card plugs)

  9. Apparently this deal is only available in the US. I am currently traveling in Singapore, and I get the error message “Sorry, not available yet.”

  10. I used the Rapid Rewards portal with 6x on Groupon the last time this came around. I never got my points and when I filed a claim with Cartera they said it was an ineligible purchased because gift cards are excluded. Pick your portals carefully, people.
