I think we’ve all been frustrated with front desk hotel staff at one point or another. However, most of us (hopefully) have the decency not to resolve the issue like this.
Check out the video footage of a guy ramming his SUV into the lobby of the Comfort Inn & Suites in Alva, Oklahoma this past Thursday, December 10, 2015:
For a bit of backstory, apparently 62 year old John Parsley was unhappy with how he was being treated at the hotel. He was confused over some transactions which were showing on his credit card, even though the hotel claimed they were declined (and showed him receipts which reflected that).
This caused him to call the police. When an officer arrived he was informed this was a civil matter, though the officer still offered to talk to the clerks in hopes of resolving the issue. Not happy with that answer, he immediately rammed his car into the hotel’s lobby. Then he backed it up a bit and ran it into the hotel again, before holding up his arms to surrender to police.
Since he wasn’t happy with the resolution, he had apparently informed the front office associates that he was going to “run his truck over them and over the property.” Of course they didn’t think he meant that literally, but apparently he did. Upon being arrested he allegedly even told the officers that they “thought [he] was bluffing and [he] wasn’t.” He sure showed them. 😉
Interestingly the Comfort Inn & Suites is the number one rated property in Alva on TripAdvisor, and comments on the service are generally positive (not that it’s the most competitive hotel market in the world). He seems to be in the minority in having issues with the front office staff.
Thank goodness the two front office associates weren’t hurt. The hotel doesn’t seem to be taking any bookings through March 11, 2016, as I imagine they have a bit of work to do rebuilding the place.
