Happy Saturday!

I’ve taken the week off from traveling, and have spent almost the entire time writing. I love being in the air, but it’s also quite nice to be in a consistent timezone and have time to blog everyday. Hopefully you guys have enjoyed the extra posts as well!

Help Us Get To The One Direction Concert In Style… Or Not!

London-approach

Tiffany and I (and several of you!) are heading to London next week for the One Direction concert. We haven’t decided how we’re getting there yet, so thought it would be fun to have a contest.

Obviously deciding our routing won’t be everyone’s idea of fun, but if you’re interested, we’ll give whoever comes up with the routing we end up booking a $200 gift card to the airline or hotel chain of their choice.

How To Get Free United Club Access

United-Club-BostonThere’s an opportunity right now to status match to Copa ConnectMiles, which will give you access to domestic United Clubs.

Travis walks through the process and his experience, which seems very straightforward.

Why Do Lower Annual Fee Cards Often Have Better Bonus Categories?

Credit-CardsReader Rich asked why it is that high annual fee credit cards often have less rewarding bonus categories than lower annual fee credit cards, which I think is an interesting question to look at.

There can be very different reasons for choosing one card over another, and those come into play when examining the bonus categories.

    Hi Ben,
Is there a way to know if my next AA flight will be operated by a refurbished B777-200? How many are now refurbished?
    Thanks,

@YEGPSP-Guy I think that's a really rather roundabout way of doing things. Of course if you enjoy Singapore (and certainly in winter a few days somewhere tropical is always nice) it can be fun but otherwise there are better options.

And Singapore F is extremely disappointing- certainly hardly better than BA First. Suites Class is something else, but you pay for it, and the ease of earning Avios means that your real spend is...

Trip to London? My preferred way from western Canada is on SQ routing SFO - SIN and after a stopover for a couple days onward with SQ SIN - LHR travelling First and Suites class. Why? We can't trust LH to actually be flying due to their ongoing strikes situation. Domestic U.S. and Canadian airlines offer only slightly acceptable Business class service at best.....as does British Airways even though they call it and charge for it as First Class.
    Enjoy your concert!
