Hello from somewhere between the US and Dubai (be sure you’re following along on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for up to the minute Dom 2005-induced coverage)! It has been an insane week of domestic travel for me. It wouldn’t look that bad on a map, but I’ve had four days of domestic flying this week, all of which started at 6-7AM. That’s much more tolling than circling the globe in a week, in my opinion.
Add in some issues I was dealing with in Florida, and I’m certainly in need of a nap. Nonetheless I’m off on a fun adventure, though it’s an abbreviated version of what I initially had planned. More on that shortly!
One of the fun things about travel is getting to experience new places with the people we care about, even if it’s just a new place for them. Tiffany walks through some tips for traveling with less frequent travelers, and the suggestions in the comments are quite helpful as well!
As I’ve written about a couple of times now, there are presently increased 30,000 Starpoint sign-up bonuses on both the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express.
This increased bonuses coincide with the cards’ benefits being refreshed. As far as I’m concerned, the single most exciting new benefit is that those with the SPG Business AmEx will receive complimentary executive lounge access at Sheraton properties worldwide. This is a benefit which is usually reserved for those who pay as well as SPG Platinum members (which requires 25 stays or 50 nights).
I’ve received lots of questions about how this benefit works, so figured I’d compile all the questions I received about this new benefit here:
Assuming you like riding trains, the Amtrak Guest Rewards program offers some exceptional values. Amtrak currently has a zone-based system, and as Amtrak is a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards it’s easy to accrue points in the program even if you’re not a frequent train rider.
There are big changes coming to Amtrak Guest Rewards, so if you’ve ever contemplated a train journey, now is the time to book!
