Mobile bookings are becoming increasingly popular for hotels, so it’s no surprise that hotels want to provide an incentive for you to download their app and book through it. After all, when you’re on the go and need to make a same night reservation, they want to be sure they’re the first chain you think of.
With that in mind, Hyatt has a promotion whereby they’re offering 500 bonus Gold Passport points for an eligible stay booked through the Hyatt app or mobile site between August 1 and September 30, 2015.
There’s no landing page for the offer, though Hyatt has confirmed with me that the offer is open to everyone. The offer should also be available on Hyatt’s website starting Thursday. That being said, given that there’s no registration required, there’s no need to wait — you can already earn the bonus, though each Gold Passport member can only earn the bonus once during the promotion period.
The full terms of the promotion are as follows:
To earn 500 Hyatt Gold Passport points under this offer, you must book a new stay on an Eligible Rate through the Hyatt App or the Hyatt Mobile Site. Both reservation and stay must be made and completed August 1, 2015 through September 30, 2015 at any Hyatt hotel, excluding M life resorts. Eligible Rate is defined in the Hyatt Gold Passport terms and conditions. All hotel reservations are subject to availability and must be made in advance.
Hyatt Gold Passport membership at time of stay is required and members must provide their membership number and be a registered guest of the room. Membership is free and enrollment is available at goldpassport.com or at a participating hotel. Only one 500 point bonus may be earned per member, per stay, regardless of how many rooms are booked. This offer is subject to the complete terms and conditions of Hyatt Gold Passport. Please allow 2-3 weeks after stay is completed for points to be credited to account.
Interestingly Hyatt had a similar promotion last year, though it was a bit more generous — you received 1,000 bonus points for stays booked through the app, and could earn the bonus as often as you wanted.
While 500 bonus points isn’t life changing, it’s definitely worth taking part in this promo if you have an upcoming stay. I value Hyatt points at ~1.5 cents each, so to me those extra points are worth ~$7.50. Keep in mind this stacks with Hyatt’s summer promotion, entitled “Sweet Dreams, Sweet Rewards.”
