- Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite™ Mastercard®
- CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®
For quite a while now, both the personal and business versions of the Citi AAdvantage cards have offered a generous sign-up bonus of 50,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles after making $3,000 in purchases within the first three months of account opening. The cards both have $95 annual fees, which are waived the first year.
Anyway, it looks like there will be a change to this offer in the next couple of hours, as I’ve been asked to pull links for the cards at 12PM ET. It could be that it’s just a very minor change, or it could be that it’s a substantial change.
For what it’s worth:
- These offers have been marketed as “limited time,” which Citi doesn’t do for all offers; that suggests the offer will change at some point in the not-too-distant future
- One of the main reasons Citi had a 50,000 mile sign-up bonus is because Barclaycard was still issuing their co-branded US Airways card at the time; in the meantime Barclaycard doesn’t have the right to issue those cards anymore, since AAdvantage and Dividend Miles merged
Anyway, if you’ve been eying either of the above cards, I’d seriously consider applying in the next couple of hours. It could be that the offer stays the same, it could be that it even goes up (though Citi is good about matching current offers for those that recently applied), but if there’s a change I think it’s most likely it goes down for the reasons stated above.
Totally speculation on my part, but I figured I’d give you guys a heads up.
