IHG Rewards Club has announced that they’ll offer a flash sale on their two InterContinental Alliance Resorts in Las Vegas tomorrow. Through this flash sale they’ll offer 50% off IHG Rewards Club redemptions at The Venetian and The Palazzo.
The basic details of the promotion are as follows:
- Valid for 24 hours, starting at 12PM ET, Tuesday, March 10, 2015
- Valid for stays between March 10 and December 28, 2015
Usually I wouldn’t write about such a specific promotion, but this has the potential to be a really good deal.
IHG Rewards Club usually charges 50,000 points per night for stays at The Palazzo and The Venetian, so through this promotion stays will cost just 25,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.
Nightly rates at Las Vegas hotels fluctuate greatly, and as you’d expect are typically most expensive on weekends.
So while this probably isn’t a great deal over weekdays, this can be a heck of a deal over weekends and when big conventions are in town. For example, pulling up random dates in October, I see rates of ~$350 per night at each hotel.
There are, however, a limited number of blackout dates, as follows:
3/25/2015, 3/26/2015, 3/27/2015, 4/14/2015, 4/15/2015, 5/3/2015, 5/18/2015, 5/19/2015, 5/23/2015, 5/24/2015, 5/29/2015, 5/30/2015, 6/19/2015, 6/20/2015, 8/17/2015, 9/5/2015, 9/18/2015, 9/19/2015, 9/28/2015, 9/29/2015, 10/6/2015, 10/7/2015, 11/2/2015, 11/3/2015, 11/4/2015
Keep in mind you can generate IHG Rewards Club points for 0.7 cents each, meaning it would cost you $175 to generate 25,000 points. That’s less than half the cost of what these hotels are charging some weekends.
Personally I’m not a huge Vegas fan, and when I do go to Vegas I usually stay at MGM properties to earn Hyatt Gold Passport points. But if you have a reason to go to Vegas and like these properties, this is potentially a very good deal.
