Double American AAdvantage Miles To Asia

American has just published a pair of promotions offering double bonus miles for travel to and within Asia.

Tokyo
Tokyo, Japan

Double AAdvantage bonus miles for travel to Asia

First of all, American is offering double AAdvantage base miles on select routes to Asia. The promotion is valid for travel between January 21, 2015, and March 20, 2015. Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code ASIA3, though previously purchased tickets still qualify.

The promotion is valid for the following American Airlines routes (which can be marketed by American, Japan Airlines, or US Airways):

  • Chicago to Tokyo Narita
  • Dallas to Tokyo Narita
  • Los Angeles to Tokyo Narita
  • Dallas to Seoul Incheon
  • Dallas to Hong Kong

For travel on American, the promotion is valid for travel booked in the following fare classes:

  • First Class or Business Class fares booked in F, A, P, J, R, D or I
  • Economy Class fares booked in Y,B,H,K,M,L,V or S

Double AAdvantage bonus miles for travel within Asia

Along similar lines, American is offering double AAdvantage base miles for travel on select routes within Asia on Japan Airlines. Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code JPS15.

This promotion is too complicated for me not to to copy and paste, since the eligible dates for double miles varies by city pair.

The following city pairs are offering double AAdvantage base miles for travel between January 21 and February 22, 2015, or between March 2 and March 20, 2015:

AAdvantage-JAL-1

The following city pairs are offering double AAdvantage base miles for travel between January 21 and February 12, 2015, or between February 19 and March 20, 2015:

AAdvantage-JAL-2

The following fare classes are eligible for the promotion, as long as they’re operated by Japan Airlines and marketed by American Airlines or Japan Airlines:

  • First or Business Class fares booked in F, A, P, J, R, D or I; Economy Class fares booked in Y, W, B, H, K, M, L, V or S on American Airlines marketed flights
  • First Class or Business Class fares booked in F, J, C, D or X; Economy Class fares booked in Y, W, B, E, H, K, M, L, V or S on Japan Airlines operated flights

Bottom line

This is a very nice bonus. Add in the fact that American is offering bonus miles for paid premium cabin travel in 2015, and you’re potentially looking at quite a few bonus points.

  1. Is there an easy way to pull up fares between two city pairs and have the immediate results reflect the fare basis (including booking class) to know what the lowest fare is for which the promo is valid? I know you can do this with ITA, but it is a bit cumbersome. Also, does travel need to originate (and/or terminate) in the cities mentioned, or are connecting flights OK? Thanks.

  2. On that last photo that you said was the “American 777-300ER first class, available between Dallas and Tokyo” did you mean Hong Kong?

  3. @ Jon — Connecting flights are okay. ITA can do that for you, but don’t know of anywhere else where you can specify the fare classes.

  4. Lucky,
Does this promotion apply to Dividend Miles members? It would be awesome if we can tripple dip on the promotions while doing the Chairman’s Challenge at the same time

  5. Hi Lucky, what’s the lowest business class price you’ve seen from lax to Nrt on aa or jal? $4k is too much for me to dish out. Are the economy fares upgradable with aa miles alone? Also, is the only way to see the booking class on aa.com right before I put in all my personal information under flight detail. Thanks.

  6. “Does this promotion apply to Dividend Miles members? It would be awesome if we can tripple dip on the promotions while doing the Chairman’s Challenge at the same time”

I would like to know as well. I have LGA-DFW-HKG-DFW-LGA scheduled for 3/9-3/12 to finish my Chairman’s Challenge. If I could get double points, that would certainly be lovely.

  7. Since Platinums and EP’s already earn double miles, is this additive, that is: we would earn 3 miles for each mile flown?

  8. so the I class on American Airlines flight doesn’t qualified for “American is offering bonus miles for paid premium cabin travel in 2015”? isnt?

  9. Well, this doesn’t do anything for me as a DM Chairman. If I credit my flights to DM, I earn elite bonus. If I credit my flights to AA, I earn this promo bonus but not elite bonus.

  10. But the “I” class only have 3500 bonus miles. am i correct?
because i will travel to japan next week, i have choice of Cathay or AA
if i can have 12,000 bonus miles, i will definitely choose AA

    thx!!

  11. Ben
Has American consistently had an Asia bonus for premium cabins and do you expect this to continue after this current one expires March 20th?
Trying to book a premium ICN-US fare but my preferred dates are after the march 20th deadline, so don’t know if should wait
