The caveat here is that only travel booked after you register qualifies, so previously booked travel through March 8 wouldn’t qualify towards the promotion. Furthermore, the bonus base points will only post 4-6 weeks after the end of the promotion period.
JetBlue ordinarily offers three base points per dollar spent, so through this promotion you’d earn six base points per dollar spent. On top of that, you earn an additional three points per dollar spent for reservations made on jetblue.com. That means during the promotion period you earn nine points per dollar spent on tickets at jetblue.com.
There are two implications of this promotion:
- You can earn status twice as quickly. You need 15,000 Mosaic base points to earn status (ordinarily $5,000 of spend, $2,500 of spend during the promo period), or 30 segments plus 12,000 base points (ordinarily $4,000 of spend, $2,000 of spend during the promo period)
- You earn more points you can redeem for free flights. TrueBlue points can be redeemed for ~1.5 cents each towards the cost of a revenue ticket, so at nine points per dollar you’re earning a return of ~13.5% on your JetBlue travel
Double TrueBlue points bottom line
It’s probably not worth switching your loyalty over this promotion, though an additional return of ~5% on JetBlue travel, along with qualifying for status twice as quickly, isn’t half bad.
