View Your Hyatt Stay More Play More Promotion Details

By now, most of the major hotel chains have announced their global first quarter 2015 promotions, including Club Carlson, IHG Rewards Club, Marriott Rewards, and Starwood Preferred Guest.

Meanwhile Hyatt shared a while back that they’ll be announcing their next global promotion on January 12. While they’ve been slow to reveal the details, they sure have been hyping the promotion quite a bit through social media.

Well, it looks like Hyatt decided to release the promotion details a bit early, as Hyatt has now unveiled the details of their Stay More Play more promotion.

Hyatt’s Stay More Play More promotion is valid for stays between January 15 and April 30, 2015, and it’s a targeted promotion, so different members will receive different offers based on their stay patterns.

Visit the Stay More Play More promotion page to find out which promotion you were targeted for.

I’ve been targeted for what’s actually a very lucrative promotion, I think. I can earn:

  • 30,000 bonus points after 15 nights
  • 15,000 bonus points after an additional five nights
  • 20,000 bonus points after an additional five nights

In all, I can earn 65,000 bonus points after 25 nights, which is an average of 2,600 bonus points per night. I value Hyatt Gold Passport points at ~1.5 cents each, so to me that’s like a reward of ~$40 per night, which is pretty darn good.

I’ll have no problem at all reaching that threshold, given that I live in hotels. And it is indeed slightly more lucrative for me on a per night basis than the last several promotions we’ve seen, which offered 50,000 bonus points after 20 nights.

Meanwhile an account of a friend that hasn’t credited a stay to Hyatt in the past year offers 2,000 bonus points after the next stay at any Hyatt worldwide. While not all that rewarding, that’s a low threshold, so for the occasional guest it’s actually not a bad option.

Hyatt-StayMorePlayMore-Promo-3

As usual, with Hyatt eligible stays include revenue nights and Points + Cash bookings, but not free night redemptions.

Registration for the promotion isn’t yet open. While there’s a link to register, the following error message pops up when you enter your Gold Passport number:

This Hyatt Gold Passport account number is not eligible to participate in this promotion.

Presumably that will be fixed in the coming days.

Bottom line

Based on my offer I’d consider this to be the best first quarter promotion, along with Club Carlson’s (though in general I have less of an interest in staying at Club Carlson properties than Hyatt properties). I’ll definitely be maxing this one out.

Which promotional offer were you targeted for, and how will this promotion impact your hotel stay decisions over the coming months?

Comments

  1. Stay Earn Total Points Earned
    5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
    10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
    15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000

  2. During previous promotions has there been any luck in having Hyatt Customer Service revise offers?

  3. I got the 2,000 pts after my next stay as well. Only had 3 paid stays in the last year, but still not bad since I likely have another stay during the promo period.

  4. Stay Earn Total Points Earned
    15 Nights + 30,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 15,000 Points = 45,000
    25 Nights + 20,000 Points = 65,000

  5. @ Jarrett — I know some people had luck with that, though it’s not as easy as with Marriott, for example.

  6. I also got 20,000 points after 10 nights.

Should be doable, already have some bookings, and there should be some business travel to schedule soon.

  7. Earn 20,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after completing 10 eligible nights at any Hyatt hotel worldwide during our Stay More Play More promotion.

Why is mine simple like this? No bonus for additional nights etc…

  8. Considering I’ve gotten 20,000 Hyatt points for complaining about the broken a/c in my room and 25,000 Hyatt points earlier this year because Chase accidentally cancelled my credit card, I laughed at the 2,000 point bonus offer I got. I’m just going to rely on customer service mishaps from here on out to fill my coffer!

  9. I got the same offer as you. I will not have quite as easy of a time with it as you, but I should at least hit the first and second thresholds.
    Stay Earn Total Points Earned
    15 Nights + 30,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 15,000 Points = 45,000
    25 Nights + 20,000 Points = 65,000

  10. Website worked just now for me to register. 2,000 points on my next stay – I only had award stays last year, so not unexpected.

  11. @ Lucky — registration is now working (at least it did for me). Was able to register for the same offer that you got:

    15 Nights + 30,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 15,000 Points = 45,000
    25 Nights + 20,000 Points = 65,000

P.S. FYI, I’m Diamond but got it through trial so didn’t stay a ton of nights in 2014. Not sure if it matters or not, but got ~25 nights booked already for 2015 (April, July, and October).

  12. Not an active Hyatt member “yet”. Had a non-eligible travel agency booking last year in Siem Reap and have a points booking planned for later this month (Points + Cash unfortunately not available). Have also applied for CC, but has not shown up on my account yet.

    My offer:

Here’s your exclusive offer — selected just for you. Earn 5,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after completing 2 eligible stays at any Hyatt hotel worldwide during our Stay More Play More promotion.

Simply stay from January 15 through April 30, 2015 — then use your points toward free nights, room upgrades, relaxing spa treatments, delicious dining experiences and more.

  13. So much for the hype! Was expecting something similar to the fall promo…
Got the 20000 points after 10 nights. No thanks!

  14. Promo does somewhat impact choice of hotel while staying in Hong Kong, though I have also received outstanding service at my hotel of choice at choice which have a higher priority for me. Will max out the promo. Nice Hyatt start of the year for me.

  15. I also received the 20,000 pts after 10 nights. For reference, I am a Diamond member with 25 stays last year

  16. Got a diamond trial at the end of the year. Made 12 nights with ~10 stays or something, Sparsely some 5 stay/5 nights before that to make me plat
Got 20k points after 10 nights no matter how many stays there are.

  17. Platinum member, a handful of random stays last year:
    5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
    10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
    15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000

  18. Lucky: I have not stayed at Hyatt for years and have a grand total of 3,736 points that represent everything I have ever earned with them. I do have a Hyatt reservation for the Dallas FTU in April.
I’m Hilton Diamond (through stays); Starwood Gold (AmEx Platinum) and Marriott Gold (United 1K)
So I’m disappointed that my offer (same as David in the first comment) is not more exciting – probably not enough to change my future plans:

    5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
    10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
    15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000

  19. also underwhelmed 20/50k for ‘one of the best promo in yrs’, considering a plat challenge to couple with this. question – cash+pts counted for challenge?

  20. I focused on getting SPG plat last year, and only stayed 1-2 nights in Hyatt (I like Hyatt more but coverage not good for my international travel). would be nice to get the 50k but can’t see me getting 20 nights in 4 months.

    Stay Earn Total Points Earned
    5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
    10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
    15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000

  21. Got 20K for 10 nights but stays from Jan. 15 to April 15. Only 3 months? Sucks coz I have a 3 week vacation in May and all stays are at Hyatt.

  22. Hey Ben

I’ve never ever stayed with Hyatt in my life but I’ve been a member of the loyalty scheme for 2 years now and surprisingly I have the exact SAME offer as yours. My query is that should I go for this because I’ve got approx. 20 hotel nights coming up before 15th april. On the other hand I decided to go with SPG double play because per dollar I’ll earn 2 base points and 2 bonus points plus 1 mile towards my Skywards account (I’m based in Dubai). I calculated that I’m going to be spending approx. 7000 USD (exc. taxes) on my 20 hotel nights that I have booked. So I’ll basically be earning 28000 starpoints plus 7000 skywards miles. Being a skywards platinum and regular Emirates flier, whats better for me : A. 24000 Starpoints + 6000 Skywards miles or B. 35000 HGP points + 45000 bonus ? I’m damn confused. Please HELP !!!

    thanks as always 🙂

  23. Sorry for the wrong calculation in the last line, I meant to say ” … whats better for me : A. 28000 Starpoints + 7000 Skywards miles or B. 35000 HGP points + 45000 bonus ? I’m damn confused. Please HELP !!!

  24. @ Keya — Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other. I’d say those are roughly comparable in value. I value Starpoints at 2.2 cents each, while I value Gold Passport points at 1.5 cents each. So since the difference is marginal, I’d go with whichever program gives you the better hotel experience in this case.

  25. Hi again Ben

Thanks for the opinion. I think I’ll stick with SPG then because I far prefer W, St.Regis and Luxury Collection properties over Andaz and Grand/Park Hyatt properties. Thanks for the advice though 🙂

  26. I stayed at 2 Hyatt’s last year and got the same offer as you. Considering I can stay at a Carlson property for 3 nights (which I already have planned in Oslo) for the same 30,000 points, Hyatt loses on this one.

  27. Here’s your exclusive offer — selected just for you. Earn 20,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after completing 10 eligible nights at any Hyatt hotel worldwide during our Stay More Play More promotion.

Simply stay from January 15 through April 30, 2015, then use your points for free nights, room upgrades, relaxing spa treatments, delicious dining experiences and more.

  28. This is frustrating. I got the same one (65,000), and after reading the T&C, it states that one one room is eligible to qualify towards this promotion. I have 3 rooms for 5 nights next week, so I should only expect that to count as 5 nights, correct? Also, they start on the 14th, so I will be giving them a call to beg an plead. Sigh

  29. @ Garrett — you may know this already but SPG allows stay & night credits for up to 3 rooms at a time (as long as you pay for all of them). So if you are regularly booking multiple rooms, SPG is a good program to look into. Starwood also has more hotels than Hyatt.
