Amex Wants To Buy You Coffee

I love me some Starbucks, and the latest Amex Sync deal is offering $5 off a purchase of $10 or more for online Starbucks purchases.

I hate jumping through hoops, but when they’re easy like this I don’t mind as much.

Deals We Like reports that this works for Starbucks card reloads, so if you have some gift cards you’ve picked up at your friendly neighborhood office supply store you should be able to add $10 to your Starbucks gift card and receive a $5 statement credit.

Not sure what I did that day to deserve a smiley face…

How to get the $5 credit

This is very simple, even if you’re as technologically challenged as I am.

The $5 credit should show up on your statement, and Amex has been really consistent about posting similar credits in the past.

It’s also worth noting that because this offer is open on Twitter, you may be able to sync multiple cards, and thus receive multiple credits…

Enrollment in these offers is also limited, so sync your account sooner rather than later!

  1. It also works on eGift cards. Noticed that Starbucks will donate $5 to a Veterans organization for every Veterans eGift purchased from November 4 – 11. So, if you are looking for some discount coffee via a gift card purchase, pick up a Veterans eGift to get the donation in addition to your statement credit.

  2. Open multiple screens on your browser and open each offer on “every” card before accepting one…….then don’t close that screen, just minimize it and go thru every card then start signing off one by one…….otherwise only one offer will be available to all your cards on that sign in………different name sign ins for spouses won’t need to worry as their card offers will still be there…..but if they have multiple cards you need to open separate browsers for each of their offers also……..

  3. I did 4 reloads of $10 each for my 4 different amex cards, the last 2 reloads would not go through at starbucks.com. But I still received 4 email from amex saying I just used and amex offer.

    Has anyone experienced this?

  4. Mona C, the exact same thing happened to me. Furthermore, on the 2 cards that didn’t go through, there is still a $10 pending transaction from Starbucks.

  5. I received an immediate “you used your offer” email from Amex when ordering a physical giftcard (no shipping, but had to spend $15), but with two other Amex cards when reloading on one and e-gifting on another didn’t receive any confirmation…

  6. Ben, the smiley face is a code used by the register person or whoever wrote your cup to the barista making your drink to check you out. It seems you had an admirer.

  7. This is interesting… I bought an eGiftCard, did NOT receive the Amex confirmation email, but still got the credit anyway…
