Cheap LAN Business Class Fares To Ecuador

LAN frequently offers fare sales for travel from their US gateways to various destinations in South America.

They have pages on their website dedicated to these fare sales:

Some of them are great, some of them are okay, and some of them are downright bad. That being said, the prices listed are “all-in,” and availability is typically quite good.

As pointed out by The Flight Deal, there are some especially good business class fares between New York and Ecuador at the moment. And in looking more broadly at their fares, there are also some good deals to Colombia and Peru.

Some of the best fares are as follows (roundtrip including all taxes and fees):

  • New York to Guayaquil — $999
  • New York to Quito — $999
  • Miami to Bogota — $699
  • Miami to Lima — $1,199
  • Miami to Quito — $849

All of these fares come with the following restrictions:

  • Must book by August 25, 2014
  • Travel must begin between September 1 and December 31, 2014
  • A Saturday night minimum stay or three night minimum stay apply

Also note that these fares won’t show up on ITA in many cases. You need to search directly on LAN’s website.

I’ve flown LAN’s business class from Miami to Buenos Aires and Buenos Aires to Miami, and while the service was pretty bad, it is a solid hard product with good bedding.

The flight from New York to Ecuador is only a bit over six hours and is overnight, so having a flat bed is quite valuable, in my opinion.

And of course if you want to explore the Galapagos Islands, that’s a great jumping off point.

Bottom line

This is a great way to earn oneworld miles for travel on great business class fares. South American airlines are mostly pretty lackluster, so having a fully flat bed and good bedding is more than you’ll get on most airlines in the region. This fare is certainly making me consider a trip to Ecuador…

  1. From the way you wrote it, it looks like Lima and Bogota are in Ecuador. I suggest rewriting that pararaph.

  2. Oh you absolutely have to go to the Galapagos! It’s one of the most interesting and unique places in the world – it’s pricey, no questions, but it’s a trip you’ll never regret

  3. I jumped on one of these fares last year and adored Ecuador. Avoid Guayaquil. Fly into Quito, don’t miss Cotopaxi National Park. Cuenca is a lovely highland town. The beaches north of Montañita are lovely, like Ayampe (avoid Montañita itself – waaaay touristy.) Of the 60+ countries I’ve been to, few pack as many diverse landscapes into such a small space, from beaches to rainforests to highlands. DO IT
