Passenger Gets Finger Stuck On Cathay Pacific

15

Via The Straits Times:

A 15-hour flight to Hong Kong proved a particular ordeal for one US passenger who accidentally trapped his middle finger in a toilet rubbish bin early Wednesday, police said.

Police said in a statement the 32-year-old, identified only as Daniel, suffered the accident on a Cathay Pacific flight.

The passenger on the flight from Newark became trapped more than one hour before landing when he threw away some garbage and accidentally got his middle finger stuck in the bin, the South China Morning Post reported.

He called the flight attendants after he failed to extract his hand, but they had little option but to leave him standing in the toilet until the plane landed, it said.

Say what?! How do you get a finger — in particular, your middle finger — stuck in the lavatory trash bin? I can’t even come up with a theory on this!

Anyone?

@Jack - The Wing closes after last flight departure (currently around 1.30 am if no delayed flights) and reopens at 5 am. Ditto for all other CX lounges (in fact one closes earlier from memory).

Lucky - Have you ever tried accessing Cathay Pacific’s The Wing in Hong Kong after mid-night? I'm thinking of spending the night at the airport, either in The Wing or outside if they are closed, any suggestions?

I hope the poor guy got to finish his business before he got stuck.

Reminds me of the storey (or is it an urban legend?) of the person who got her hand stuck in the toilet of a Metro North train. Apparently her cell phone fell in and she tried to retrieve it.

If you've ever been on a Metro North train, you know that this would be an especially horrific experience...

i just hope the stupid incident does not cause a lawsuit against CX as so frequently incurred in usa. people expect to be spoon fed everything & cant take care of themselves with common sense.

Eh, I've gotten my middle finger stuck in worse places.

Have you ever seen a restroom in economy? Those places are scary! ;-)

Could be worse; a guy in New York sued Starbuck's because he apparently crushed his pecker in a faulty toilet seat at Starbuck's. Try that one at home...

Karma at its finest. Now we know what happens when you flip an airline off

@PhatMiles maybe he had to sit on the lavatory while landing? :p

I feel bad for that poor guy but I cannot stop LMAO. May be the finger got stuck in between the actual bin and the wall lining. Thats a wild guess though. Do they allow you to stand when landing? :P

You could theoretically get a finger trapped between the inner receptacle and the flap mechanism - it's happened before.
