Avianca’s LifeMiles program is one of my favorite frequent flyer programs for Star Alliance redemptions nowadays. They didn’t used to be, but after United’s MileagePlus award chart devaluation and US Airways leaving the Star Alliance, they’ve kind of been left as the only decent program which doesn’t impose fuel surcharges.
Through June 30, 2014, LifeMiles is offering a 25% bonus when you transfer points from some of their partner programs:
Don´t miss this opportunity, in which the miles or points you have accumulated with our partners have more value!
From June 2nd to June 30th, LifeMiles will give you up to 25% bonus miles for each mile or point you transfer to LifeMiles, from any of our partners. Some partners may also offer an additional bonus.
With LifeMiles you will be able to redeem airline tickets on Avianca, Star Alliance member airlines, other partner airline, hotel stays, car rental, amusement park tickets and much more.
Don’t miss this opportunity that LifeMiles and our partners have for you!
Find our partners in your country:
Terms and conditions apply in each country.
Now, as you can see, the catch is that the United States isn’t even listed as one of the countries with “partners.” So unless you have a bank account with Bancoomeva, Banco Produbanco, etc., chances are that there will only be two transfer partners worth considering:
- Hilton HHonors: 10,000 HHonors points to 1,000 LifeMiles
- IHG Rewards Club: 10,000 IHG Rewards Club points to 2,000 LifeMiles
Neither of those are especially lucrative transfer ratios. With the bonus, the Hilton HHonors transfer ratio becomes 10:1.25, while the IHG Rewards Club transfer ratio becomes 10:2.5.
That’s not a rate at which I’d transfer points from either program unless I had a specific redemption in mind or was trying to empty out an orphan account, for what it’s worth.
