St. Regis Washington DC $30 Per Night

Some Starwood properties have some great rates for stays in November of 2015. That’s correct, not this November, but next November.

For example, the St. Regis Washington DC is pricing at just $30 per night on a prepaid rate starting November 3, 2015.

That rate is available for the entire month of November.

There are similarly good rates for suites. The Caroline Astor Suite at the St. Regis is just $100 per night.

These rates are prepaid and non-refundable, so keep that in mind when making a reservation. Hopefully the non-refundable part is a two way street. 😉

Interestingly some other Starwood properties seem to be pricing out in a similar price range for next November as well.

For example, the W Hollywood prices out at $20 per night on select dates in November (for example, November 12-13).

Earlier in the year the Westin Cancun had a similar rate of $20 per night, and the hotel honored those rates.

I doubt this will last long, so if you’re interested I’d book ASAP. Feel free to share your experiences booking these below, and if you find any other properties with special rates next November it would be great to hear about them as well!

  1. @ Richard H — A reader tipped me off to it. Feel free to search more properties, as so far I’ve only found US ones where it works.

  2. Westin Chicago Northwest is $10 during the same time period… Pretty far from the city though.

  3. Im in at the W Hollywood. Of course: “Please note that Suite Night Awards can’t be requested for this reservation” Jeff – what dates?

  4. It seems like everywhere that has a deal has it the night of the 12th, at the very least. Westin in Hollywood, FL $10.

  5. I got two nights at the St Regis Nov 11-13 to price, just booked. Not sure I would be able to use but I am willing to guess they will be accommodating about allowing cancellations…

  6. Thanks for the tip. Also wanted to pass along that the Westin Diplomat Hollywood, Fl is available 11/11-12 2015 is $10 for a Grand Delux

  7. Presidential Suite at Westin Tysons Corner for $120. Regular rooms for $30, other suites for $60. Availability for a couple of nights..

  8. If this works, I’ll have to update my address for the month of November. St Regis is going to make us wear wristbands or something…to differentiate between mistake fare pax and $600/nt pax!

  9. Have a week at the DC St. Regis Hotel in the Astor suite.
Anyone having any luck with Hawaii, Bali, or Bora-Bora?

  10. The St. Regis was still pricing at $40 per night for a regular room a few minutes ago (prepaid) in early-mid November 2015

  11. Booked 3-8 November at the St Regis in DC for $30/night. Would love to find something in Phoenix that month but can’t seem to find anything.

  12. Lol ok I booked all I could under $200 booked at 3 different hotels lol! 🙂 Hope they are honored.

  13. Thanks for posting! I’m in for three nights at the St. Regis DC. Two nights in a regular room and another in the suite.

  14. Just saw the post above about the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass. Can’t get it for the dates I would need.

  15. I forgot to add, assuming these are honored, I am going to call FHR or my virtuoso agent to see if they can take the reservation over. Probably won’t be able to because they are non refundable, but it’s worth a shot.

  16. As long as these are honoured this should make for a nice week in DC next year. Thanks for this post!

  17. Booked half of Nov. at St. Regis/DC. With our savings, we should all meet for their famous $29 cocktails each night. 🙂

  18. Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates Hotel is available on the 12th for $41/night. Can’t find enough days to string together though.

  19. It still works! I booked for Nov. 18-21, 2015. The forfeiture amount is 1 night room/tx before 4pm Nov.15, 2015. First travel plan for 2015 on the books!

  20. I just booked the Sheraton Dallas club floor 11-13 Nov 2015 for $23.05 including tax. Seems all the hotels have the same dates of around Nov 11-13. Any other dates available at other hotels?

  21. just Booked 5 nights at the st regis washington, i guess it will be a one mile at a time + flyer talk summit haha.

  22. Still alive, booked 12 nights on 7 reservations, still available at 1:36AM CDT. Most between $10 and $20. Just checked and still available.

  23. Checked every hotel in Houston that has rates loaded and don’t see any super-low rates for November. Some dates in Sheraton Dallas but not enough consecutive dates. Nothing in St. Regis DC, nothing at Westin Diplomat.

  24. I’d be shocked if this is honored but good luck to those that got in. Starwood overall has not be very open to honoring rates of this sort–especially when there is a lot of publicity. The fact that it is prepaid hasn’t seemed to matter too much to Starwood in the past as to whether or not they honor these if my memory serves me correctly.

  25. Both W Hollywood and St Regis DC seem not working anymore. Anyone tried any date combos that work in last 10 minutes?

  26. @Levi Well given the starwood record with mistake fares, I didn’t exactly drop what I’m doing to check in to this. Good luck to you.

  27. What (if any) federal laws apply to hoteliers in this case? I’m not a lawyer, but I imagine the hotels in question have a contractual obligation (esp. if credit cards have been charged). Don’t confuse my query with consumer entitlement–this is obviously a great mistake, and I won’t be sad if my ridiculous reservation is canceled. The contract issue is compelling, though.

On a related note, it would be interesting to know how various upmarket credit cards are likely to react (on behalf of their card members). Amex Plat, et al.

How does this sort of mistake happen? I hope the person (team) responsible lives to see another day of employment. This can’t be an inexpensive snafu.

  28. Starwood has a mixed history on honoring booked rates like this. The Westin TS NYC was honored nicely, but some other such deals have not been.

Given the size of these properties, I doubt this will make or break any of the properties’ need to sustain a certain REVPAR level and not end up in default on debt financing provisions.

  29. This would have been HUGE if Hawaii had been available. I still see some dates of rooms available for $30 in Atlanta.

  30. I think this was a mistake to post this by the “most good for the most people” standard.

The hotel can’t afford to sell out all their standard rooms for an entire month at $30/nt, which is probably what happened as a result of publication here and elsewhere.

Whereas if it were a glitch that only a few dozen people got in on, they’d probably let it slide figuring the small loss in revenue isn’t worth the bad press and ill will of cancelling reservations. As it stands, they’re probably losing too much money not to.

  31. @ Justin — I don’t claim to be perfect and I definitely could be wrong, but I did give it thought before posting. In my experience with “cheap” hotel rates, hotels have a really easy time blowing off a few customers. I’ve witnessed it many times before with hotels deals that didn’t even go public. Because it’s easy to blow off a few people and say it was a mistake.

I’ve found hotels are more likely to honor — or offer something of value — if it did go public and there are lots impacted, because it’s not as easy to blow off a lot of people.

Anyway, not saying I’m right, but rather just saying that I did give this some thought, and genuinely thought this would be the best way to maximize the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

  32. Sheraton Emirates Mall Dubai is still available for 11-13 nov 2015, AED 150 for deluxe suite, but if you change the occupancy to 3 adults, all other lower level room types (including junior suite) open up at flat AED 120.

  33. Fair enough. That’s not a perspective I’ve considered. Nobody really knows in the end…

  34. @ Lucky – I take advantage about this mistake rate booked Le Meridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre, and I am soon to received the e-mail from their in house reservation and they want to send me the confirmation will CORRECT rate, I want to share the details for you, may I know which e-mail address I should send to? Thanks!

  35. Update: I do hope it does not get cancelled or no sort of an overbooking happens at arrival next year at will cost my reservation to relocated elsewhere. I have just seen a charge on my card for the total price 3 nights with tax which I am inclined to believe that they will honor my booking.

  36. Just got my res cancelled by the St.Regis, DC:

    Dear Mr. Pieman

We are writing on behalf of The St. Regis Washington D.C. with regard to your reservation for November 2015.

Please be aware that due to a system error, you were able to confirm an incorrect rate significantly lower than the normal rates for the hotel. We have investigated the problem and concluded that instead of presenting the correct rate for the room type booked; our system published the difference between two rates, resulting in the incorrect, very low rate.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but we cannot honor your reservation at the incorrect rate. The correct nightly rate ranges from $635.00 to $725.00.

If you would like to keep your reservation, please respond to this email and we will ask the hotel team to follow up with you directly with details on the correct rate. You may also cancel your reservation without penalty.

If we do not hear from you by Wednesday June 4th, we will cancel the reservation. We realize this is disappointing and appreciate your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Helen Horsham-Bertels
    Consumer Affairs Executive Division

  37. Received email that they will not honor their $100 rate on the Astor suite and if I do not want to pay full, price they will automatically cancel by June 4th

  38. They aren’t honoring it:

  39. Yep… I just got the email from St. Regis too. But nothing yet from the Diplomat, I bet that one is coming! Bummer 🙁

  40. Received an email from The Westin Waltham Boston just now saying that they are not honouring the rate. Booking will be cancelled by June 4th.
