FTU Advanced Coming To Chicago September 26-28

Last week I posted about the first Frequent Traveler University Advanced, which will take place in Chicago the weekend of July 18-20. This will be different in format from Frequent Traveler University Seattle, which will be held the weekend of April 25-27, 2014. While the Frequent Traveler University events up to this point have been “mega” events with ~500 attendees, FTU Advanced is capped at just 125 attendees.

Anyway, the first FTU Advanced sold out in less than 24 hours, and the organizers told me that they literally received hundreds of emails from people wanting tickets.

Adjusting the size of the event would impact the whole reason behind it (to offer a more “hands on” event), so instead there will be a second FTU Advanced the weekend of September 26-28.

125 tickets have just gone on sale for FTU Advanced 2, which will be held at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare September 26-28, 2014. I suspect this one will sell out just as fast as the first one, if not faster.

Here’s all the information regarding the event:

There will be 6-8 experts teaching, with most sessions in smaller groups of 15-30 people so it’ll be easy to ask questions and get hands on help on your own laptop.

You will spend time with Ben Schlappig or Lucky from One mile at a time, the kid who grew up to become one of the most respected bloggers out there. Also joining the group is Greg from FrequentMiler more speakers to be added later

This is the ultimate weekend where all the bloggers will share their biggest secrets.

Here are some of the subjects that will be covered in hands on, small sessions:
— Award Booking on American Airlines
— Award Booking on United Airlines
— Award Booking on Other Airlines (Delta, Alaska, Avios, etc.)
— Using KVS Tool & Expert Flyer to Search for Fares and Availability (fare construction)
— Maximize your spending (beyond Bluebird)
— Maximizing Hotel Loyalty Programs and Promotions
— Visas, OTAs, Car Rentals, ATMs, and More Tips for International Travel
— Advanced booking techniques for revenue tickets

We’ve got a private room block of the new, renovated rooms for $99 per night. When you’ve purchased your tickets, we will send you the link to book a room.

When: September 26th-28th 2014. Registration and welcome drinks are Friday night. Sessions begin at 9am Saturday and conclude 4PM on Sunday

What’s included:

— All sessions
— Welcome cocktail hour with open bar on Friday night at 630PM

— Free internet in both the rooms and the conference area. Please bring your laptop for hands on training.

And in the interest of full disclosure, I’m not being paid to speak, though I do believe my hotel and transportation to the event are covered, but that’s it. I attend these because this “hobby” is genuinely my passion, and I like to take any chance I can to share that with others.

Hope to see lots of you there!

Comments

  1. Saw an email from MMS about it this morning and thought it already got sold out but still managed to get a ticket 🙂

P.S. May I suggest an anger management session? “Dealing with program devaluations and other changes not announced in advance” 😉

  2. From MilePoint thread:

    – “Half the tickets are already gone, so get them while they’re hot.”
    – “More rooms uploaded for July, the room block for September will be available on Tuesday this week. Everyone who has registered, will receive a booking link via email “

  3. You guys just have to organize these events on my travel dates eh! It’s good to know I won’t be missed 😉

  4. I am thrilled this is being offered again and also close to my home. Can I just say that meeting Darius from MMS and all the other bloggers will be like celeb sightings for me? Looking forward to meeting other Chicago travel hackers as well!

  5. I’m thrilled that I got a ticket! I appreciate your passion for flying and for sharing info with others. Looking forward to Chicago in September! I’ve been planning to get a laptop, and this is an added impetus.
