A couple of weeks ago I shared my experience flying American’s brand new A321 first class between New York and Los Angeles.
This product is virtually identical to the business class product on American’s brand new 777-300ERs, and is hands down the best premium cabin product flying between New York and Los Angeles. The first class cabin is in a 1-1 configuration with just a total of 10 seats, so it’s one of the most private feeling narrowbody products out there.
American has just started A321 service between New York and San Francisco as well, and is offering bonus AAdvantage miles on tickets flown between March 6, 2014, and May 31, 2014 to celebrate.
You can earn 15,000 bonus miles per roundtrip in paid first/business class, 10,000 bonus miles per roundtrip in paid full fare economy class, and 5,000 bonus miles on most discounted economy fares, excluding the “O” and “Q” fare buckets.
One-way tickets are eligible for half of the bonus. In order to qualify the flight has to be operated and marketed by American. All nonstop travel between New York and San Francisco is eligible for the bonus, even if the flight is operated by a different aircraft type.
Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code NYSFO. Best I can tell you can earn the bonus miles even if your origin and destination aren’t San Francisco and/or New York.
That means, for example, if you purchase a ticket from Seattle to San Francisco to New York, you should still be eligible for the bonus miles between San Francisco and New York.
The full terms read as follows:
AAdvantage bonus mile offer is valid for round-trip travel on American Airlines marketed and operated nonstop flights between New York Kennedy (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO) from March 6, 2014, through May 31, 2014. Half the bonus shown will be awarded for one-way travel. Offer applies only to AAdvantage members who purchase and fly on eligible published fare tickets (excludes fares beginning with O and Q). Bonus miles will be awarded based on the booking class purchased. Bonus miles do not count toward elite status qualification or AAdvantage Million Miler status. Registration prior to travel is required.
Along with this, American is also offering selected AAdvantage members Double Elite-Qualifying Points on the route for First or Business Class tickets flown between March 6, 2014, and May 31, 2014. Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code NS2XP.
The Double-Elite Qualifying Points terms are as follows:
This is an exclusive offer only for members who receive this email directly from American Airlines. AAdvantage bonus elite-qualifying points offer is valid on American Airlines marketed and operated nonstop flights between New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO) from March 6, 2014, through May 31, 2014. Offer applies only to AAdvantage members who purchase and fly on published fare First or Business Class tickets. Registration prior to travel is required. Double elite-qualifying points will be calculated at 100% of the base points earned.
Make sure to register if you’ll be flying between New York and San Francisco (and don’t forget about the cappuccino machine)!
