Through November 30, 2013, Wyndham Rewards is offering a 20% bonus on the purchase of points.
You can purchase a maximum of 40,000 points through the promotion, plus the 8,000 bonus points, for a total of 48,000 points. Points cost 1.1 cents each prior to the bonus, so if you max out the promotion you’d be purchasing 48,000 points for $440, or paying ~0.92 cents per point.
Wyndham Rewards points can be converted into airline miles at the following ratios:
- 8,000 points gets you 3,200 miles
- 17,500 points gets you 7,000 miles
- 30,000 points gets you 12,000 miles
Theoretically if you purchased 48,000 points you could convert those into 19,200 airline miles (six of the 8,000 point packages). That’s like paying ~2.3 cents per mile. Certainly not a steal, through Wyndham Rewards does have several useful airline transfer partners, so that’s potentially not a bad rate if you’re short on miles for an award you’re eying. It’s also not a bad rate if you’re looking to top off a Wyndham Rewards account to have enough miles for an airline transfer.
As a reminder, Wyndham Rewards points purchases are processed by points.com, so wouldn’t qualify as hotel spend for the purposes of your credit card.
