Alaska Airlines offering 5,000 bonus miles on new Board Room memberships through December 31, 2012!

Through December 31, 2012, Alaska Airlines is offering 5,000 bonus miles plus 2,500 bonus miles donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for any new Board Room membership. The bonus miles will be deposited into the Mileage Plan member’s account before January 31, 2013.

The membership fees are as follows:

Personally I find the American Express Platinum card to be a much better value for lounge access. The card comes with Priority Pass, which gets you free Board Room access. The catch is that it’s only free for one person, while each additional guest is $27. Meanwhile a club membership allows you free guests.

That being said, I don’t even really find visiting the Seattle Board Rooms worthwhile anymore. It’s consistently overcrowded to the point that there aren’t any open seats, so I’ve started just hanging out in the central concourse area, or cutting my arrival at the airport really close.

  1. Pancakes. They aren’t the greatest pancakes I’ve ever eaten (Andaz 5th Avenue, natch). But you make them yourself, with the push of a button. Can you do THAT on the main concourse?

  2. With the Priority Pass they’re supposed to charge for a second person, but in practice, I’ve found they seem to forget that policy more often than not. Maybe I’ve just been lucky.

  3. Yet everyone seems to defend the wonderful boardrooms! Staff are generally nice, but the places look dowdy and tired now. I’m not sure why the self serve pancakes are worth all the excitement?

  4. The beaches in the six gulf countries in mid-east are gorgeous but empty, due to culture and religion. However, I strongly recommend to visit gold souks to look at amazing gold jewelry.Don’t forget to see famous hand made Persian rugs.

  5. hi all,
Maybe I’m reading it wrong, the site said you can bring up to two guests who are traveling with you ( http://www.alaskaair.com/content/gifts-and-products/board-room/boardroom-overview.aspx?wc_lid=Greeter_Benefits&wc_mid=1506%3A21693%3AWHA_AH_20121203_Boardroom&wc_rid=1-7ACQ9Z5 ) and that you would have access to sky club locations including your two guests for same day travel on purchased/redeemed alaska or delta travel ( http://www.alaskaair.com/content/gifts-and-products/board-room/boardroom-locations-and-hours.aspx )
