Singapore Airlines has made some really customer friendly changes on the award redemption front the past few months. Earlier this year they started releasing saver first and business class award space for their “new” first and business class products. However, they continued to not allow “saver” award redemptions in Suites Class on the Airbus 380, trying to keep it a super-premium product. The only way to redeem miles for Airbus 380 Suites Class was at the “full” level, which is about a million miles for a roundtrip ticket. However, that just changed, per an email sent out to KrisFlyer members:
We are delighted to announce that redemption bookings for Saver Award flights in the Singapore Airlines Suites, on board the Airbus A380, are now available on krisflyer.com.
With the launch of this latest initiative, our customers will now have the choice and flexibility to redeem all award types in all cabin classes across the Singapore Airlines network. We have revised our award charts to include the Singapore Airlines Suites, which will be aligned with First Class award levels for your ease of reference.
We are pleased to share that despite this change, there will not be an increase in the current Saver Award levels for First Class. All Saver Award tickets are also now valid for one year instead of six months.
There will, however, be an increase in selected Standard and Full Award levels for First Class which will also apply to the Singapore Airlines Suites. If you have made a prior Standard or Full Award booking on First Class, we will honour the original award levels for bookings made on or before 28 November 2012 and ticketed by 12 December 2012. Please contact KrisFlyer Membership Services for assistance.

This has come about as a result of the feedback you have provided us. We continue to value your comments and strive to make further improvements to the programme.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on our flights soon.
As a reminder, this refers specifically to those redeeming KrisFlyer miles. Those with Star Alliance partner miles still can’t redeem for Singapore’s new first and business class. That being said, KrisFlyer is both an American Express Membership Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest transfer partner, so there are plenty of redemption options.
Now, I’m not actually seeing all that much space at the saver level, though I hope that will change as time progresses. That being said, I see lots of award space at the “standard” level, which is still much cheaper than Suites Class used to be.
Either way, this is an awesome change!
