US Airways offering $50 discount or 5,000 PQMs plus waived initiation fee for new Club membership

Quick, check your calendar. Today ends in “day,” and you know what that means — US Airways is offering a discount on something.

Through July 20, US Airways is offering either a $50 discount (promo code USCLB) or 5,000 PQMs (promo code PQM5K) for a new US Airways Club membership . In both cases the $50 initiation fee is waived for new members.

If you’re going for elite status with US Airways those 5,000 PQMs are pretty valuable. A good mileage run would be 3.5 cents per PQM, so that’s $175 “worth” of them right there.

This could be a discounted way to get a United Club membership given that a US Airways Club membership gets you access to United Clubs. For US Airways Club access I still find the American Express Platinum card to be a better value, though.

  1. The terms and conditions of the offer say it’s for elite members only, I’ve been waiting to try to parcel out whether anyone could grab it which is why I hadn’t yet posted.

  2. Slightly off topic, but does it make sense NOT to have the platinum Amex card? With the Chase Sapphire 4x points, the Amex PRG doesn’t really make much sense for me now.
