Andaz Wall Street offering tax services April 8-15

I love when hotels have innovative ideas to improve the guest experience, so I can’t help but mention what the Andaz Wall Street is doing for the week of April 8-15. They’ll have an accountant in residence to help hotel guests file their taxes. The accountant will be living and working in the Buttonwood Suite for a week, and you must set up an appointment to meet with him at least 72 hours in advance by emailing accountant@andaz.com.

I do find it funny how half of the press release describes the suite he’ll be working out of as opposed to what he’ll be doing.

Anyway, if any of you happen to be staying at the hotel and taking advantage of his services, I’d be curious to hear how it goes.

  1. The press release says you must give them 72 hours advance notice, which is the opposite of “up to 72 hours in advance.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if zero people took advantage of this offer. Purely a publicity stunt.

  2. I’m half tempted to do this, I’m slated up be up in NYC during this time. Not sure I’ll use the return they help to prepare but it would be interesting to see how they do.

  3. This could save me a lot of money. I file returns in three states and two countries. Last year my federal return was approximately 60 pages long. I don’t see anything here defining what type of return this dude will handle šŸ™‚

  4. I would rather prefer my old accountant who has been preparing my tax returns for years. He exactly knows what was my situation before and where do I stand now.

  5. I wonder about the quality of this practioner. I mean, how good can he be if his schedule is clear one week before taxes are due? My (excellent) accountant basically pulls all nighters the final week because he has so many clients.
