Registration live for Starwood’s “Triple Up” promotion

Just a quick reminder that registration is now live for Starwood’s “Triple Up” promotion, which runs from September 6 through December 18. Through this promotion you earn double base points for all stays, and triple base points for stays including a Thursday or Sunday night. Unfortunately there’s a long list of non-participating hotels, though.

At Starwood you usually earn two points per dollar spent, plus one point as a bonus if you’re a Gold or Platinum member. Through this promotion you earn an additional two points per dollar spent for all stays, or four points per dollar spent if your stay includes a Thursday or Sunday night, for a total of up to seven points per dollar spent (plus the two points per dollar you can earn for using the Starwood American Express credit card).

It’s not the most exciting promotion in the world, but then again, Hyatt’s year end promotion isn’t exactly exciting either…

  1. Even a cursory glance at the latest economic headlines would reveal that the economy is weakening very quickly. The airlines and hotels are crazy if they think they can keep up these kinds of prices into next year. I would at this stage expect many very lucrative promotions in 2012, much as in 2009 and 2010.

  2. hi, just planning a trip now and trying to use miles… is it worth it to pay for one night using an amex card in order to get the 1000 point amex miles bonus + 1000 southwest miles and triple starpoints on a $300 bill? or is it better just to get the free night using up 7000 starwood points?
    thanks!
