Delta SkyMiles is officially the TGI Friday’s of the airline industry for a couple of reasons. For one, I don’t remember the last time I’ve eaten at Friday’s without a coupon. Also, they seem to constantly publish new coupons before the old ones even expire. And the same goes for Delta.
Through June 30 Delta is offering a bonus of 25% for Membership Rewards transfers of up to 99,999 points, and a transfer bonus of 40% for Membership Rewards transfers of 100,000 or more points. Registration is required here.
Now, this isn’t quite as lucrative as the 50% transfer bonus that just ended, but then again, that only applied to the first transfer (though you could always create a new SkyMiles account to get around that).
The terms and conditions say that it can take up to four weeks for the bonus miles to post, though with the most recent promotion they posted instantly. That makes a huge difference, since you really only want to transfer Membership Rewards points to SkyMiles if you have a specific redemption on hold or in mind.
I’d never recommend anyone transfer points to SkyMiles “just because,” though during the most recent promotion I booked tons of people awards to Europe through SkyMiles, either for 67,000 Membership Rewards points (or 100,000 Delta SkyMiles) or for more miles when there were no better options.
So I’m certainly hoping that the bonus posts instantly again this time around.
