Hyatt points based promotion coming in March…

Hyatt posted the following on their Facebook page today, in response to a couple of people asking when we can expect the next big Hyatt promotion:

So while there has been endless speculation about what Hyatt’s first quarter promotion will be, it seems we have our answer — there won’t really be one, though instead it will be a (mostly) second quarter/Spring promotion.

Also, based on the way they describe it, I doubt it will be a Faster Free Nights/Big Welcome Back type promotion, whereby you get one night free after every two stays, which is just too lucrative. Instead, it seems like it’ll be some sort of points based promotion, maybe similar to the Great 10K promotion they had in the fall.

I can’t blame Hyatt, they’ve been incredibly generous in the past and offer great elite benefits. At the same time, I certainly won’t be making any “mattress” run stays at Hyatt properties in the meantime, and will be focusing my “legitimate” stays on Priority Club hotels, because I have more incentive to stay there at the moment. Furthermore, I’m guessing Hyatt didn’t feel much pressure, based on the fairly lame promotions that Starwood and Hilton are running.

Guess I won’t be qualifying for “double” Diamond this year, though I am hoping they at least make the second quarter promotion a decent one.

  1. Indeed when I asked Hyatt’s PR rep about their Q1 promo she replied that she’d let me know soon about their *Spring* promo. Grr, I want bonuses for January/Feb stays…

  2. Not sure whether I should requalify for Hyatt-Diamond, SPG-Platinum or Marriott-Gold this year? Would Priority Club be better?

  3. NO FFN = many less stays at Hyatt. I do wonder though whether there still might be FFN as usually Hyatt offers either free ngihts or the other option of bonus points.

  4. IMHO this is actually good news for people that aren’t Diamond yet. Wait until Sept of Oct to hit Diamond with the Stay 2, Get 1 and have your status for a year and a half.
