  1. Amen on the showers. Some of them are more complicated than they need to be. I have always had this pet peeves. It usually takes another family member or friend to show me how the darn thing works. I have never seen wireless phones in hotels before. On the ligher side, at least you can use them during a thunderstorm, that if their working at all.

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a room with wireless phone and I’ve rarely had a shower I couldn’t figure out. My number 1 biggest pet peeve is the general lack of accessible power outlets near the nightstand!

  3. Wireless phones complicated? What about alarm clocks. On my recent trip in Australia I couldn’t figure out how to set the alarm in most hotels. I once spent 15 minutes to study it, but then gave up and relied on my mobile phone. Thumbs up for the Hilton alarm clocks, simple and standardized.

  4. I think you mean cordless phones right? I take wireless phone to be an analogue for a mobile or cellular phone.

  5. My gripe is lack of horizontal space to place my junk. It seems hotel designers never think that travelers will actually bring their own items and need places to place them.

  6. Showers that trickle are my number one complaint–I’m looking at you, Holiday Inn, with your fancy shower head that barely delivers.

  7. Number one gripe – no power outlet to charge my phone on the nightstand overnight. That way I don’t have to figure out the clock.

    Number two gripe – tubs/showers that have the shower ‘active’ and the shower head pointing right at you so when you turn the water on you get blasted.

  8. I’ll second the emotion on hotel “jukeboxes.” I’m at the Crowne Plaza at MIA airport as I write this, and you need more than a degree from MIT to figure it out how to set the alarm. Oh, I have a degree from MIT. I’ll just set my wristwatch alarm.
