Continental Chase checking account offer extended through October 31

Last week I speculated that Chase Continental checking accounts might be a thing of the past, due mostly to the merger with United, not to mention how incredibly generous the offer was. The coupon codes were usually extended just a bit before they expired, but weren’t this time around, with the expiration date being the end of September. Well, fortunately it looks like the coupon codes have been extended through October 31. It’s worth noting that in the past the coupon codes have typically been extended by three months at a time, though this time it’s just one month. So that might be a sign that this is one last opportunity to sign up for an account.

You can find the the personal coupon here and the business coupon here. Take advantage of this now, if you haven’t already. It’s the easiest 50,000 miles you’ll ever earn.

Comments

  1. I already have a Chase United debit card. If I open another checking account, and because of the merger, do you think I can eventually merge the miles together into my United mileage plus account with these continental miles?

  2. I’ve done the personal account before- one time I had trouble getting the miles to post the second time it posted with little problem.
Can you tell me what you need to do for the biz account to keep the account open without getting charged fees each month? Also how long should the accounts be left open before closing? ( personal & biz)

    Thanks for the great posts!

  3. So we print out the coupons and then go to a Chase location to set up? Can we do both accounts at once?

  4. The business coupon wouldn’t work online so I went to a Chase branch this morning. It took 37 minutes to open the account (including 5 minutes waiting for a rep to assist me).

Only two hiccups: rep was pushing the Chase Continental business credit card (which is fine except I’ve already had and cancelled that particular card) and the rep also wanted a copy of my EIN paperwork. I told him I’ve had that number for years so wasn’t even sure I had the original paperwork, though I’ll look through my office for it more thoroughly later.

Be careful when you open the account in person. I felt like I had to step the rep through it and make sure he opened the right type of account, entered the coupon code (on the form you print out from Lucky’s links), and entered my OnePass number.

  5. Some questions from comments are answered in fine print below. Agree I only see opp. for 25K Onepass miles as well.

  6. Does anyone know how long the checking account must be kept open? I opened it in August and I have already received the 25k miles and would like to close the account.
