Starwood has unveiled their fourth quarter promotion, “Every Night Counts.” Basically, you earn double Starpoints for your stays if you stay up to nine nights, or triple Starpoints on your stays if you stay 10 or more nights.
It’s worth noting that not all properties are participating (though more than 850 are), and that stays between September 8 and December 15 qualify. Registration opens on September 8.
This is a decent promotion, though not exactly exciting. I find the exceptional value in most hotel programs to be outside of the actual opportunity to earn points, like the free nights promotions that Hyatt and Starwood offered in the second quarter, namely “Big Welcome Back” and “Free Weekends.” Of course it likely wouldn’t be profitable for hotels to consistently offer such lucrative promotions.
I’m certainly hoping Hyatt has another round of “Faster Free Nights” this fall, though I’m starting to think they’ll be adding some restriction, since the competition just isn’t stepping up to the plate. Or has Hyatt had enough converts at this point from other hotel chains so that they don’t feel the need to offer insanely lucrative promotions anymore?
