Delta & Singapore Airlines relationship to end

Can’t say I’m really surprised here given that Singapore now has a relationship with four US airlines (Continental, Delta, United, US Airways). As of May 15, 2010, the frequent flyer partnership between Delta and Singapore Airlines will be over. Redeeming Delta miles for Singapore Airlines first class was always one heck of a value, although as Singapore rolled out their new configuration planes finding award space in premium cabins became a challenge.

Unfortunately this doesn’t really help those of us that are Star Alliance flyers, given that Singapore Airlines is releasing virtually no first class award inventory, even on old configuration planes. Hopefully that’ll change soon.

  1. I just flew in F LAX-NRT on SQ booked with Virgin miles, 130,000 miles and 180 USD in taxes. Not too bad and all booked 5 days before the flight. I guess I got lucky.

  2. Don’t worry about getting premium seats. Just make sure that you have enough time to book your flight in advance with the milage. It only took me a week to get the biz seat with Delta Milage. You just need to be patient.
